I just found my Blockbuster video card.  There was a time,  I used that nearly every day.

Got me thinking,  what else did we think was ubiquitous and unending,  only to vanish in a few short years?

When I ran businesses, to track all expenditures, I wrote checks for EVERYTHING. If I wanted a bag of chips I wrote a check. That way all of my money was accounted for as business or personal.

I still have a checkbook someplace....

Writing checks is not an unusual thing where I live.  A lot of businesses prefer folks to pay with cash or check.

For me, cash is a thing of the past as I usually have only a few dollars and use credit cards to buy almost everything.

It is hard to pay the auto mechanic whose bill is nearly $2000.00 cash so I had to write a check.

Well,  I still use my checks for a few bills monthly, and I never had a Blockbuster Card.  But, I already mentioned my slide rule, so let me add my wrist watch.   I have been told it dates me … as if my grey hair doesn’t.

I haven't kept checks in a very long time. I prefer cash, but I'm afraid that might be one of those disappearing things, too.

That is a good one.  I haven't seen on in a long time except on TV.

A telephone hooked up to a land line.  We still have phone lines where I live so some folks must still have some.

TV might soon be a thing of the past ...

Another fan of paying cash.  Here, paying with a card or cheque costs the business up to 4% fees on the transaction, plus additional fees per transaction.

It also makes it easier for my monthly budget.  I take out how much cash I budget for the month and if I spend it on my credit card I put the cash to one side.  If I spend it in the store, the cash pile goes down.  This way I can see how much I am spending how quickly and adjust as I go along.

I recently watched some commercials from 2002 on YouTube, cable tv is almost obsolete with streaming services.

Here in Canada, "smoking" sections in restaurants are obsolete. It's all "non-smoking." I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the world. Do they still have smoking sections?

Some areas here (MO, USA) are 100% smoke free, others aren't. There are a few bars here that still allow it, though they've strategically installed pretty effective  exhaust/ filtration around, so it's not like walking into the 'smokey bars' of the old days. The only reason I know about the bars, is because a couple of them that serve some food that had been highly recommended, so we tried it (they were right). Then there are a few places here in town, that are a bar on one side, and a restaurant on the other. They also have improved their filtration,, for the most part. One in particular, has pretty good food, and the best selection of fish we've found in the area, but we only go there if we can get there very early (3 - 4pm), because their filtration/ ventilation system... Well, it's a popular place, and by about 6pm, it gets bad, and takes their system all night, to clear it out, again.
