Happy Vernal Equinox.  70's male with background in organic/biodynamics and herbal.  Spring like weather in central Virginia for several weeks now.  All the spring bulbs are in bloom, early trees are in leaf, several days last week near 70.  For all the folks in the Great White North, stay strong, the robins will be back with you soon.

Hi Deane;
Welcome to Permies!
Here in our part of the Great White Northwest, for the last three days, we have had Sunny with highs breaking 60 and 33-37 at night!  Whoo Hoo!
Tonight the wet part returns and for the next 3 days we have rain and then this weekend the snows return!
Spring is coming, the snow is melting and the mud is drying up (in places) it just can't make up its mind yet.

My thanks for the great welcomes.  As one gardener to others, I have what I've been told are old fashion day lilies, orange in color, with three row of petals.  If you guys want to try them please let me know, I'll be happy to ship some root stock your way.  Our local deer love the buds!!!     Where should I post ordinary day to day stuff?

Meaningless Drivel is a catch all forum

You might post about your day lily root stock on the Resources forum.

If there's personal project you want to to show off or get feedback on there is the Projects forum.

Welcome, Deane!  Virginia is beautiful this time of year. We have some very fat robins hopping around here in Indiana, and yesterday when I was sitting on the back porch overlooking the huge backyard, I saw a platoon of about a dozen red-winged blackbirds take over the top branches of one of my black walnut trees. Like many species, they're here before the females, scouting out the area. They come in greater numbers than the purple martins I'm also enticing to my yard with a new martin house. It was an unexpected surprise. I always loved seeing red winged blackbirds when I was a kid.

Thanks Aaron, I'm sure I can find a place in meaningless drivel forums.  (at my age and health that's about all I have left)

Jim ---- this is for you    Down in the forest something stirred,  It was only the note of a bird.  -  Harold Simpson

In this part of Virginia (near Lynchburg) its the return of the brown headed cow birds, as sign spring is near.
