Our friends in N. GA all report fly revolution this year. How to combat this insurrection? We try the Maggot Mosh Pit method, borrowed the idea from these very pages, andit seems to improve the situation somewhat.
Small bucket fitted with hardware cloth bottom, fill halfway with various chook food items....preferably those leftovers that hid, forlorn, at the back of the fridge too long.... then let the flies take over.
As the larva hatch and participate in the mosh pit, foul bucket loses all smell and chooks happily feast on their version of "manna from the heavens"
This has atmleast put a dent in the fly population
