But microbes are my friends - looking for a good, all metal aerator

The aerator on my kitchen faucet was kaput so I went to big box land for a new one.
Every aerator has Microban in it.
As an old timer I seem to remember aerators just having brass or stainless screens in them not plastic cartridges. But that might have been just to keep the grit out of the tea.
Anyone know how to get fluffy tap water without the antibiotics?

I love it! Yay to the microbes. Thanks for the timely link. I connected a salvaged sink and kitchen faucet outside my off-grid cabin yesterday and noticed the faucet aerator is missing. I'd like "fluffy" soft water and even more need to conserve water. I haul water and the barrel goes down very quickly!!  The 12 volt RV pumping I'm using is doing too good a job. Hopefully a flow reducing aerator will help. And yay for running water with friendly microbes.

Anyone still have their finger on a good, all-metal, no-chrome kitchen faucet aerator in 2026?  All the ones I'm seeing are pretty awful.

Without an aerator, the water kind of gushes out in unpredictable directions, like out of a hose.  An aerator adds pressure and focus by forcing the stream through a screen or two.

It doesn't seem like there's any reason all-stainless ones shouldn't be available, but I'm not seeing them around either.

I bought some that have a stainless shell, brass filter, and plastic aerator insert - and took the plastic bit out.  The water is less "fluffy" coming out because it doesn't tumble through multiple screens, but I think it'll work for me.
