Is it the darkest day or the shortest day in 2025?

Is it the first day of winter in the northern hemisphere?

Will days be longer and nights shorter?

According to the Minnesota Weatherguide Calendar and Almanac that a friend gifts me every year, tomorrow is the shortest day. Sunrise 7:49AM Sunset 4:35PM.
Then sunrise gets later until it maxes out at 7:51AM on December 27th and stays there until January 7th. And sunset gets later by about a minute every 2 days then every day then off to the races!
