May you grow still enough
to hear the small noises earth makes
in preparing for the long sleep of winter,
so that you yourself may grow calm
and grounded deep within.
May you grow still enough
to hear the trickling of water
seeping into the ground,
so that your soul may be softened and healed,
and guided in its flow.
May you grow still enough
to hear the splintering of starlight in the winter sky
and the roar at earth's fiery core.
May you grow still enough
to hear the stir of a single snowflake in the air,
so that your inner silence
may turn into hushed expectation.

And remember if you need to, to mark your low sun exposure point today for solar stuff or gardening reasons. I'm figuring out my sun/shade limits, and am marking points today.

I love these thoughts - and this time of year. Thank you!

This is always my wish.

Tonight is the longest night of the year. I am looking forward to the gradual increase in day length as this wonderful planet carries on its journey around the Sun.

Enjoy the Solstice for the promise of Spring that it brings.

Do any of us know permies who *aren't* behind??? There always seem to be cool things we'd like to build, or try, or plant!

The sun has made another trip around the sun! For those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the days are about to start creeping longer.

For those who accept that weather patterns are shifting, I am waiting with impatience to hear whether my totally goofy Muscovy duck who absolutely *insisted* on sitting on eggs, managed to hatch me any Solstice fluffballs - I'll keep you posted, but I'm too far away to pay duckling tax until those on the spot send both news and pictures.

To all my fellow Southern Hemisphere permies, enjoy the warm weather, as your turn in the cycle will come.

Happy Solstice Wishes to All!

There are paper charts with numbers and pretty pictures, and there are cell phones measuring a perfectly synchronized illusion. Long before and long after there is a small blue planet circling a little white star. I just want to wish everyone up north a Happy New Year.

For my next feat, I will require a volunteer from the audience! Perhaps this tiny ad?
