I have been told that there is demand for some of my stuff to be mailed to folks on a jump drive.  Folks want the stuff we are selling, but they have really awful internet.  The 177 hours of PDC/ATC is way too much to be put on DVD.

The cost of a 64 gigabyte jump drive is pretty low.   Copying and mailing takes some time.  I'm not sure how much time would be in the copying.

all 177 hours at 640x360 (tiny download) takes about 41 gigs.

41 gigs is too much for a 32 gig drive, but with a 64 gig drive, that leaves some space.

All of the podcasts is about 6 gigs.

The rocket mass heater 8-DVD set is about 5 gigs and the world domination gardening 3-dvd set is about 2 gigs.

To test the waters for this project, I hereby offer:

$222 177 hours of PDC+ATC and all podcasts

$302 177 hours of PDC+ATC, and all podcasts, and Better Wood Heat 8-DVD set as mp4 files, and World Domination Gardening 3-DVD set as mp4 files.

It seems like every time I talk about this stuff, people want HD.  The trick is that the 177 hours as HD is 301 gigs.  That won't fit on a 64 gig drive, or a 128 gig drive.  Or even a 256 gig drive.  So a 256 + a 64?  Five times the jump drive expense and five times the jump drive copy time.

$333 177 hours of PDC+ATC (HD) and all podcasts

$444 177 hours of PDC+ATC (HD), and all podcasts, and Better Wood Heat 8-DVD set as HD mp4 files, and World Domination Gardening 3-DVD set as HD mp4 files.

Add $20 for shipping outside the US!

Part of me wants to say that if I don't get enough orders I will send money back and another part of me wants to say that I will give it a try no matter what - kinda see how involved it is.   But I do want to say that this offer totally expires in four days.  If interest is strong, I might set up something long term.  But this is one of those things where I don't know if a thousand people want it or zero people want it.  And I don't know if I will feel fine doing it or hate doing it.  There's a lot of unknowns.

Send monies via paypal (paul at richsoil.com) or bitcoin (177pNU2a9iCpUXQwXX9EbtA2UwZpgeqcMT).

I have good internet so don't have use for this, but I definitely see value in it. I hope you get strong interest.

This interests me as I have no internet. I was a part of the pdc/atc kickstarter so I already purchased those. I appreciate the offer though!

Mike, comment on this thread when you are ready and we'll see if we can do a one-off for you.  Because it looks like you will be the only one.

My first thought was... the price is too high.  My next thought was, I hope it isn't as much as twice the cost of a 64GB flash drive.  That would be an enormous amount of copying and still the price may not favor those who cannot afford internet.  I don't know Duke de Permies... maybe a Permaculture Library, where folks can get far less... for less.  Good luck with this venture.  I do appreciate how you try to get info to the masses, by the way!

Five days.

A mention in the dailyish.

A huge amount of thread boost for five days.

It's official:  interest is very low.

Ah ha!  I have been wanting this since the kick-start era but it seemed like you guys already had lots going on! I paid for the live and download atc and pdc but Internet is so bad I still haven't been able to watch them all! If there was a way to pay a top up amount to cover your time putting the data on etc and the cost of the drive then I'd be very very very interested.
I feel interest is low because most people who are interested paid at the time and don't want to double purchase?

Paul - I am somewhat interested....just swamped with higher priorities atm so didn't respond until something reminded me just now.

Benefits I can see - save the download times; great if slow/unreliable/etc internet; save time on tracking down all those links and organizing the actual downloaded files; easy to lend out and thus infect more brains (honor system for not duplicating, etc).  Also it's simpler and thus removes a few barriers/excuses?  Plug it in and watch, instead of "oh where is that file?  Or that streaming link?  And what's my login again...?"

I also have bought some of the stuff before through various deals and so would be interested in a lower price considering what content I already have.  I may be able to tell you which, off-hand if I were more organized......

(Then again, if I were more organized and had permaculture as a higher priority, I'd also already have downloaded everything!)

Now that I think about it, I ended up buying the PDC/ATC from the other site....wasn't clear at the time if it was exactly the same as your offer or not.

Also - as far as making it easier on y'all (and thus potentially cheaper as well) -

Flash drive duplicators can be had.  A quick look on eBay shows more $ than I had thought, starting around $100 for a 2-copy unit.  $300 for a 1:10 on Amazon.  So if you were going to do them, could end up adding up to a lot of time saved.

Of course, there are services that will do it for you (and provide the drives), but there you're maybe up against MOQs and ending up with stock, etc.

Sorry late to the party, am extremely behind in Daily'ish e-mails.

I am super interested.  Participated in the KickStarter like Natasha, don't recall specific details but think streaming and downloads, I can look it up.

Living in a Land Whale has disadvantages, among them is unlimited reliable internet.

If still possible would like one too, normal resolution.

c jones, no point in buying a duplicator if there is just one or two people buying this sort of thing.

Richard, for you I would like to make it free for all you have done for the empire over the years.  At the same time, I'm not sure how much expense or work this will end up being.  So I will make you the same offer as natasha:  $100 off on either offer.

Thanks Paul! Am sure empire is hungry!

I'd be more than happy to pay the $122 (100 off 222 tier) for lower resolution and just courses. Have most, if not all, the other goodies.

If you're ok doing.onesies or twosies can PayPal once say ok.  It's still cheaper than paying cellular overages.

Send the coin.   It might take me a few days to get it copied and in the mail.   My guess is that you don't care if it is a jump drive or memory card.  Once it is processed, I'll just delete this thread.

I've purchased access to the 100 hours of PDC content and the tiny download too. I've tried multiple times to download the content but the downloads keep failing (due to my internet connection).

So yes, I'm interested in this option!

I'm also interested in the "Better Wood Heat: DIY Rocket Mass Heaters 8-DVD Set" $65 tiny download too.

Question:

What in addition to the $65 for the 8-DVD Set above would it cost to have the purchased content put on a 64GB Flash drive provided I buy* and send you a flash drive with return shipping prepaid?

*I want to make sure it's the newer USB 3.1 Gen 1 technology flash drives with 5GB transfer rate)?
