POST 609 (DAY 619, Wednesday, 2022.04.20)
[Morning Entry]
…… grateful for breakthroughs.. there’s a fine line between owning a task and letting the task own you.. when the task owns you, artisan’s choice seems negligible.. but artisan’s choice is a must; not a negligible option!.. we exercise our vital excellence when we operate in ownership—this turd is gonna shine brighter than the sun after I’m done polishing it!.. and it can be a task that I was handed (not necessarily chosen by me; i.e. being a care taker, etc.).. stress comes when I’m operating beyond the fine line that lays between owning a task and being owned by the task.. am I master to my exercise of excellence? Or am I slave? As long as it’s my own choice to be one or the other..

POST 612 (DAY 622, Saturday, 2022.04.23)
[Morning Entry]
…… grateful for easy rise.. getting out of bed in the morning was super easy for me, until I turned about 6 years old.. I’d get up and watch silly Willy the penguin, at 5am or something; before anyone else was up.. I had a purpose garsh darnit..!.. then something changed that made waking up undesirable and pointless.. Morning thoughts would invariably be overridden by “need more sleep..” .. maybe silly Willy stopped airing around that time, or sleeping more became that much more important..

What kind of cutting implement does the mill use? Was just talking about this yesterday- do chainsaw and/or circular mills waste much more material than bands because of the wider kerf?

…… grateful for “fizzy bubblies”.. I have grown to enjoy sparkling water, fizzy ginger ale, and the like.. so much so that I think about it all the time.. flat water is good too.. honestly, the bubbles though!.. they haunt me gently..
Coydon—wonderful questions that deserve some solid answers.. my apologies.. As much as I’m tempted to try to be helpful with those questions, I’m afraid my sawmill expertise is just not on that level at this time.. perhaps somewhere in the near future I might know some more technical details..! :)

actually I think those are male flowers with pollen.
The most notable features of all varieties of alder trees is its catkins and strobiles. Both male and female flowers (catkins) appear on the trees
Young catkins appear green before turning yellow. The female flower is a smaller red structure, about 1cm long and with many hair-like structures across the surface. Once this is pollinated, it turns into the brown alder fruit or 'cone' which houses the seeds.
