That’s a scary lot of creosote! Is that from the rocket cooker?

I'm pretty sure it's from Shanndelier's conventional woodstove. The woodstove has a weird, long, angled chimney, which I think is the main problem.

This is Shanndelier's woodstove that was installed by the previous owner who'd built it:

In the right-hand image in this collage, you can see the pipe:

Yeah that makes more sense to me! The setup is equally scary. That looks like a stove for a military tent, only a short pipe works properly.

POST 184 (DAY 192, Thursday, 2021.2.18)
[Evening Entry]

.. finished the construction part of shanndelier renovation.. it’s not glamorous; it’s rustic.. it wasn’t even really “construction”.. it was more like.. well you’ll have to visit to find out I guess.. or moosage me.. :)

.. yesterday a little bird to me something profound: it’s not about “me-time” anymore.. rather, it’s about “our-time”.... I used to love my me-time because 80% of the things can be my way.. i can watch my favorite show, eat my favorite snack, and only smell my own farts.. when it’s our-time, though.. the show is agreed upon, the snacks are shared, and there’s sometimes some unfamiliar funk in the rooms.. 80% of the time.. there’s a beauty about sharing time that isn’t really mentioned a whole bunch in popular culture.. we aim to own things like personal vehicles, single occupant homes, or personal retirement plans.. these are awesome things to aim for..
.. so in the arena our-time, I am a new player.. I have some experience from when I was growing up in the same house with four other occupants (my folks and two sisters) and zero income or skills.. living here at Wheaton labs reminds me of those days, except, now I have more skills.. in a way, I’m back home living with fam-bam.. there’s a culture of supportiveness and contribution.. grace and order.. simplicity and adventure.. what a great place to build dreams.. what a great place to have “our-time”..

.. Enjoy the pics~!!!

Good job insulating it! I wonder if the stove could be moved near the windows. When we put in our woodstove, I was kind of bummed that the best place was by on the otherside of out living room window, rather than in the middle of the house. Our layout is kind of like this

        ____________________     ______
| |      |                 |    |     |
| |      |                 |    |     |
| |__    |                 |    |     |
|    |                          |     |
Stove         Window              Door

Having it by the door and window is kind of nice. I have lots of light when cooking on the woodstove, and it still radiates into the rest of the house. And, my stove pipe only has 7 feet from floor to ceiling, rather than 10 feet, so I get nice upward draft.
