POST 222 (DAY 232, Monday, 2021.3.29)
[Morning Entry]

... yesterday was walk from the lab to base camp day!.. something in me begged for a long walk/jog to mentally reset and get some blood flowing.. I walked the uphill parts, sprinted and jogged some flats, but I kept moving forward while watching the clock.. it took just under an hour starting from my plot.. and it felt like 3 miles.. I had eaten quesadillas and pasta for lunch  so no surprise I had plenty of energy; happy to say that my heart, lungs and legs were keep up just fine also!.. yes, it was an extended health/wellness check.. I made it back just in time to say bye to Lara driving away from base camp.. and in time for a shower before Seder dinner.. before all that was my usual morning routine, cleaning blitz with the whole team, and cartoons with Paul.. AND a quick tour of fred’s plot.. AND AND a quick lawn chair session at my plot.. overall a packed day.. I could use more sleep today.. I feel rested but not caught up..
... during the walk, my clarity moment was that I had been very distracted.. if I’m a few years, I am to be living at the lab, now is the time to begin preparations for that lifestyle.. food, water, shelter, transportation, heat.. 232 days in—I’ve gained enough knowledge and experience about permaculture to devise and implement a plan of action.. and perhaps I shall begin with the thing that comes most naturally to me: chopping wood..

... Enjoy the pics~!!!

POST 223 (DAY 233, Tuesday, 2021.3.30)
[Morning Entry]

... THE WORK: AM—garden patch planning.. a seed questions session with fred for an hour, after an hour of team meeting about logistics of scaling Bootcamp up to 20+ persons.. PM—tidying the shop some more.. making some clear labels for sections of the shop, and clearing out old trash..
... focus.. when I look around, I see such gifts, in people who are able to focus on things.. I’ve long thought that I have some form of attention deficit, because others quite often seem to grasp concepts and ideas more readily than I.. the other day I found myself reading the same short paragraph for about five minutes trying to understand and not connecting or not concentrating enough.. my mind was everywhere else except on what was being read.. then I read it out loud to the room, and everyone said “yeah that’s sounds pretty straightforward..” to which I exclaimed, “I still don’t get it!”.. afterwards, i simply moved on to the next words on the page.. so then I wonder what comes easily to me, or to my attention span?.. maybe if I focus on this question long enough, I’ll see something..! :)
... WELLNESS ASSESSMENT: the 3 mile walk/jog/hike on Sunday must have been really good for me.. My heart and back feel strong and fit.. still feeling pretty lethargic and fatigued in general.. there’s something taxing my energy.. might be fibromyalgia, or the change of seasons, or something else.. overall, I’d say I’m at a solid 80%—which is pretty good in my opinion.. still able to keep up with morning routines, nest and project labors.. will keep an eye on this.. and eat some eggs for breakfast today..!

... enjoy the pics~!!

POST 224 (DAY 234, Wednesday, 2021.3.31)
[Morning Entry]

... final day of first quarter.. this year is moving along.. pretty soon we’ll have 20+ boots, going into pdc period, and multiple people living/working on the lab.. exciting!
... yesterday, did some more organizing at the shop during the day.. then after work, jogged up to the volcano.. what a great day.. slept early and woke up later than usual.. if I wake up at 2am and don’t fall asleep for an hour, should one stay in bed or get up? ..hmm...

... enjoy the pics ~!!!

POST 226 (DAY 236, Friday, 2021.4.2)
[Morning Entry]

... yesterday’s entry was going to be about “cleansing/purging”... somehow the evening blurred by—without a hint of boredom, it was suddenly 9:00pm.. actually part of what took much of the time was the delayed service at the local diner.. a place we visit, from time to time, as a bit of diversion.. they serve mostly fried American cuisine.. they seem to be low on staff, but I still enjoy my 2-3 hours, sitting in a lumpy yet cozy corner booth, talking and laughing about everything and nothing with the people closest to my values.. congrats to paul for the new Kickstarter record!.. D—for helping to round out and test the final stages of the love shack prior to rent-ability; good luck with the curtains!.. C—for finishing/polishing two of the gates at the abbey!.. K and I finished the shower shack wood shed yesterday, woohoo!!!.. L and Nine have finished so many things, I’ve stopped keeping track—I just thank them constantly, for being who they be.. these are just the folks who were at the diner last night.. and much respect and warm appreciation to all the other boots and staff of permies.. let’s go!

... enjoy the pics!!!

Ps. The cleanse thing was a spiritual/emotional purge of past baggage I had somehow been carrying.. yet another level of blame and codependency—two things which I’d prefer to learn to let go.. had a recent chat with a friend that brought me much needed perspective.. “don’t be paranoid..!”.. she exclaimed, with nothing but love and certainty, after I had finished explaining my plight.. it wasn’t so much the telling of those simple, poignant words, but perhaps knowing that someone listened.. that was the important message.. or something like that..
