.... respect.. perhaps does it mean to look again?.. as in RE-spect?.. (I’m making this meaning up of course; I didn’t research at all).. this word keeps coming up in my mind when I think about my first year at the lab.. I’ve seen boots come and go, and the common theme for boots that have a good time are those who bring respect..
.... respect for the residents..
.... the systems that reside here—like the community rules based on our values.. they aim to serve the community more than to take from it.. respect the systems..
.... the people who reside here—boots, visitors, etc.. those who wish to partake in this experience are by design, serving in the community.. respect the people (as well as one’s self!)..
.... making it a good time seems to be a matter of bringing a certain level of respect to the table.. at least from what I’ve seen.. maybe this is true of most arenas, most households, most communities..

I like your thoughts on respect :) The ability to see another's viewpoint and contribute to a group in a positive way!
Granting another - importance :) Seems like the people who go out there are AWARE of people and the environment...
I like the no drugs rule :) This has to make it easier to be aware of others.

Wez—currently we have three boots who are writing entries regularly.. the two new boots may or may not as of yet! .. It’s always fun for me to see everyone’s different perspectives and gatherings :)

.... to serve or be served.. the other day a permies regular reached out to me and forwarded me some coin to put toward my journey/efforts.. what a wonderful thing to receive—thank you (you know who you are!!).. I asked myself what do I need/want?.. and I came up empty.. this is because all my needs/wants are met at the moment.. what a nice thing to be able to say.. my goal is to live a simple life.. here I have food/water, shelter, clothes, transportation—in abundance.. what a wonderful thing to be able to say!!.. Thanks to paul and all the pledgers and staff and fellow boots.. so then I thought of the next question.. what does someone else need/want?.. my other goal is to be the best steward I can be.. so thankful for this opportunity to get creative and surprise or support some folks with just a little something that might lift their spirits.. there really is joy in sharing good things with others isn’t there?.. I usually buy a round of healthy snacks for the community as a default in a situation like this.. cashews this time perhaps?.. hmmmm..will keep you posted! :)
