Here is my submission for the Natural Medicine Aspect - Sand for Straw - Create a Burdock Root Salve BB.

I harvested Burdock Root near the Clark Fork in Missoula while attending the PTJ 2021 then dried it in the amazing solar dehydrator at Wheaton Labs.  I made the Burdock Root Infused Oilve Oil in August and completed the Salve yesterday.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
  - Harvested plant material (either being harvested or just harvested)
  - Plant material in oil with a description of the oil and other ingredients you used in the oil or added to salve
  - Making the salve
  - Finished salve in a labeled container

Harvested plant material (either being harvested or just harvested)

Plant material in oil - Oilve Oil and dehydrated Burdock Root

Making the salve (I made three salves and the burdock salve is in the jar on the lower right with the letter "B' on it)

Finished salve in a labeled container

Note: I certify this BB complete.

There's a glut of burdock in one of my favorite foraging spots- perfect for this badge!

This smallish plant will do nicely

I opted to oven dry it over night- burdock root on the left and dandelion root on the right(for a different salve)

Here it is the next morning

I wanted a simple burn salve on account of burning myself the day prior, so I kept it simple with a 50/50 mix of olive oil and coconut oil and the only herb was burdock.

I let this one sit for a month (shaking it every once in a while) to get that herbal hue, then when it was ready strained out the herbs with a shirt and cheesecloth

I had 1 and 1/2 cup of herb oil, so I added 1/2 cup of beeswax to my beeswax/double boiler jar

and let the beeswax melt until everything looked evenly mixed

I poured the mix into some old(cleaned) jars

Let them cool overnight and labeled them

Note: I certify this badge bit complete.
