Knit or crochet a hotpad - PEP BB textile.sand.hotpad

I couldn't wait any longer. I really want to know what knitting with actual good wool is like, so I went ahead and bought the Knit Picks worsted Andes wool, because that would work with the knitting needles that I do have with me at college. So, that ought to ship by sometime next week, and then, I can finally finish this BB properly and make a hotpad with actual wool!

Yes, alpaca would be good for making a hot pad.

Used a garter stitch to make it a little thicker.

I choose Ashford Tekapo 8-ply yarn because I had some left over from another project.  It's 100% wool and I knit two strands of yarn together in garter stitch (knit both ways - no purl) to make a thicker hot pad.

In my defence, I am knitting one haded due to an injury, for this project so the tension didn't turn out as good as normal.  

The KnitPicks Wool of the Andes Worsted Weight Yarn arrived about a week and a half ago. I underestimated how much the yarn floofs up when I was doing the casting on, so I ended up making the hotpad much bigger than I intended to. So, I used one ball and a bit more yarn.

This yarn is very nice, and it is quite soft. I really like it. Just a few notes about using actual wool yarn, since I think this is the first time I've used real wool yarn, is that it does indeed shed hair when you knit with it. I smelled the yarn, and it does smell a little like an animal. Also, I caught the yarn more between the fibers when I was knitting with it, which may just be a property of real wool yarn much with the artificial stuff I got for cheap or free that I have been working with mostly.

If you don't have use for such a wide potholder, you can always felt it down! Thank you for sharing your review of the knitpics yarn--I was really wondering how good the yarn is.

That's perfect! Cotton, linen, nettle, or hemp should all be fine!

This is perfect! Since I don't know how to crochet, I didn't know how to make the badge bit. I'll see if I can finagle something together, and hopefully a crochetter will fix what I got wrong.

For now, if you post your dishcloth (matching the requirements your wrote) to this thread, I can certify it and then merge it to the cotton dishcloth badge bit when it's made!
