Howdy, fellow
permaculture enthusiasts! This was a great stash busting
project. I had leftovers and excess lumber from jobs piling up in the garage, and for the roof I had some steel cover sheets that I wanted to repurpose from a job installing some deck skirting.
The inside dimensions are 110" x 42" which, when divided by 144" (sqft) comes to 32.083 sqft, almost a perfect face cord. The actual storage available is closer to 120" x 42" / 144" = 35 sqft. Either way it's good to go! I don't measure the depth in the video because it is easy to see the 12" marks on the tape for reference and eyeball it perpendicular. It was designed to hold 16" sticks and logs with ease.
The rack is oriented on the north side of the
fence with a roof that has an overhang of several inches. The weather here rarely comes from the north and, considering the position, will be plenty to keep the wood nice and dry as I need.
