Just like you did here. Just reply to the thread you're interested in, or make a new thread. Here's how to start a new thread (https://permies.com/wiki/75685/Thread-Tutorial), and here's more tutorials about how our site works (https://permies.com/wiki/34193/permies-works-links-threads).

You can also post your question here and I can split it off to it's own thread in the correct forum, and maybe that will help until you get a hang of the forums.

Hello, one of my posts are on probation because in contradicts the Title at the end of my posts. But I would have deleted it myself if there was an option to do so. And if you can delete a post I couldn't figure it out. I just don't understand why it would be hard to find where you can delete a post you no longer want up there.

Hi Tim, we rarely delete things.  The permaculture singles section is sometimes an exception.  Here's a thread explaining some of the reasons Deleting Stuff

I'll fiddle with some stuff on your Arizona post so that it doesn't stay on probation.  There's some good conversation in there that might be helpful for others chasing the same dream.

Thanks I really appreciate it, I don't want to be on probation. And I wasn't trying to do anything that would put me there.

Thanks for understanding Tim!  I don't think you did anything wrong.  I was trying to phrase my reply for future generations as well as for this situation

Can I post a topic showing my hugel construction for others to review?
Pictures amount to over 500mb of them from last year alone.
Or are there some limits?
I can add new ones from this year as we do more on it.
Thank you

You bet you can!  Maybe in the hugelkultur forum or the projects one?

While I don't think there's a size limit, some discretion could save the server from overheating.  I think there are some limits to the number of pictures per post but you could break the project up into a few posts under the same thread.  It also helps to resize images to be 700 pixels or less in their longer dimension.  At least that's what I was told a while back.

The easiest way to upload photos is to use the Attachments tab at the bottom of the post and upload from your computer or device.

Oh boy shrinking to 700 pixels when the originals are 3200 pixels surely will degrade the pictures.
AND it will take a long time to do.

Will work on it on rainy days lol
Thanks.

Ps I am missing some pix due to hard drive failure and could not recover them all. But there is enough to get the gist.

Here's one I shrunk way down to 700 pixels.  It doesn't look much degraded to me.  Try a few and see how it goes

I never shrink mine and they seem to load fine at that many pixels as attachments.
I thought there was some auto-shrink-techy thing that did it for us when we post?

I think people should go ahead and upload the full size pic.  Permies will show a thumbnail that is 700 pixels wide.   And if somebody wants, they can click on the thumbnail image and see the full jumbo image.

Actually even with my bad eyesight I can see degradation to some degree.
But it is viewable though.

I wanted to be sure I wouldn't get into trouble uploading 1/2 gb of pics

Some sites are pretty picky about things.

Just remember not everyone uses windows. I use linux and there is no decent software that will efficiently reduce pixel sixes like windows software can.

Gimp stinks when it comes to editing things.
But I will shrink them when I get time. To busy planting and such.

I think permies automatically shirks the image. At least, I've never shrunk mine, and they've always uploaded--they just take forever. I've often done 3+ megabyte images.

I'm sure it's better to shrink them, but I'm thinking you might be okay if you don't? I've never gotten in trouble for uploading lots of pictures. We'd rather people upload them here than host elsewhere, because sometimes places like photobucket stop hosting and then all those pictures are gone and a thread makes a whole lot less sense...

Just a reminder to everybody that this thread is for talking about HOW to contact us.  This is not the thread for discussing stuff.

I split a thread and left a post here directing people to the new discussion.  And then any discussion after that I have simply deleted.

I would like to remind people that this thread is for talking about where to ask questions or how to contact us.   This thread is not for specific issues.
