This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEA curriculum. Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Foraging.

Getting samples that are clearly identifiable as the desired species is critical and is the hardest part of this BB.  PEA permits the purchase of the plant and focuses on preparing and eating it.

Minimum requirements:
  - Make 6 cups of tea
  - Each from a different species
  - Must be something that is commonly foraged (not something that is rarely foraged)
  - There must be at least one sample of each species that is clearly identifiable
      - This could require more than one purchase/acquisition
  - Can be a twofer with PEP foraging BBs
  - Species can be fresh or dried
  - Make tea from the following:
      - Sassafrass
      - Spice Bush
      - Wild Ginger
      - Nettle
      - Rose hips
      - Mint
      - Pineapple weed
      - Raspberry leaves
      - Chaga mushrooms
      - Pine needle
      - Fir tip
      - Ceanothus americanus/new jersey tea
      - Kinnikinnick
      - Sumac
      - Linden flower
      - Wild strawberry leaf
      - Fireweed
      - Birch bark/leaves
      - Clover
      - Rose petals
      - Dandelion
      - Bull thistle

Provide proof of the following as pictures or video (<2 mins):
  - Clearly identifiable sample of each of the 6 species
       - Countertop, table or background needs to match your tea pictures
  - Your 6 cups of tea

What is the definition of "tea" for the foraging PEA bb. Picture is of a ginger bug, it starts like a sourdough starter feed it tsp of ginger & raw sugar each day for about a week and then you do secondary fermentation like kefer and kombucha as long as you keep 1/4 c as starter culture.
Would this count as "tea" to forage medical plant.
Next stinging nettle i planted from some growing in a ditch 5 years ago.
3rd Rose petals from a fully domesticated plant.

I believe that these two definitions from Merriam-Webster are appropriate here:

an aromatic beverage prepared from tea leaves by soaking them in boiling water

any of various plants used like tea also : a drink prepared by soaking their parts (such as leaves or roots) and used medicinally or as a beverage

Note: It's hard to read the labels. Would it be possible to take the pic. again so that they can be read? Without a list in the post and since the labels are hard to read, it's hard to tell what you made tea from. Thanks!

The 6 plantswe found to do this bb were:
Pine needles, yellow clover, (birds foot) dandelion, thistle, rose, mint.
My mom said the clover and rose and mint might be kinda hard to ID from the photo. So I added photos of them in the field.

My son and I foraged for plants in our local wildlife preserve area and along the bike path. We found dandelions, clover, mint, nettle, pine needles and rose hips. I was surprised at how tasty the pine needles tea was, and my son preferred the clover tea.
