Hi! I've been around for a while, and want to give a little back. How do I become a volunteer?

You could help Paul pay the massive server bill by buying PIE. My purchases are teeny tiny.

Maybe you would be interested in the affiliate program. Promote Paul's digital market stuff while earning money for the empire, and yourself.

Oooh, oooh! Staff has been asking pollinators for help with the dailyish here. The only cost there is your time.

Writing a book review is a big help. We have a number of review grids and a bunch of books on it haven't been reviewed at all yet.

I enjoy my time volunteering, I found that being engaged and dabbling in a mix of things was the best approach for me.

I was nervous with trying the Dailyish but now I'm having a lot of fun curating topics all under different themes.

SKIP/PEP is a bunch of fun! I've slowed down now that it is gardening season but I keep expanding my badge bit collection.

Some folks get really knowledgeable in certain topics like Biochar or Landrace gardening and spread their knowledge in the forums of their specialty.

I'd love to see more people get involved and move up the ranks with time. The various scavenger hunts can help with getting used to the mechanics of the site so future volunteers will be that much more prepared to take on the 'official' roles.

Yes - the dailyish is *always* looking for volunteers.

If a pollinator wants to give it a try, but are feeling shy or unsure about it, if they start a drafts thread for themself in Secret Minion forum and send me the link in a PM, I will help with editing. If you notice many thank you's with my name on it in the staff comment added to Dailyishes when they're sent, that's why - I help to check over as many as I can get to.

It's a great way to contribute, because it not only fills a need, it gets threads circulating and showing up on the Recent Topics page so lots of members will see them.

We are starting to put together the new permaculture playing cards.  Each card takes a lot of time to convey a strong message.  Perhaps we can move some of the cards into a more public space.

We are about to come out with a new bundle.  Finding the people with the content for the bundle and getting everything arranged is a lot of work.

We need to evolve our desktop look and feel and our mobile look and feel into one universal look and feel.  This is probably going to take 80 steps.  It would be good to start a list of those 80 steps.

We have some thoughts about a future youtube  video with polydough.  We need people to make all sorts of fun things with it and add pics/vids.  https://permies.com/t/1371/Poly-Dough-pizza-bread-fry

Gamcod.

Coming soon:  fill out the hugelkultur book.  Currently in draft form.  That's gonna be about 2000 hours of work.

There seems to be a powerful desire for me to finish the thorns book.  2000 hours or work there too.

Helping with the dailyish is a biggie.

How do we improve the wheaton-labs.com pages?  Fill the bootcamp and the sepper program?

...   mostly ...  what was said above:  participate in the forums.  Answer questions, guide people, help people understand all this stuff.  Maybe ask some good questions.  Maybe have a bit of a log about your own endeavors - complete with pictures ...

oh!  I thought of another one!  Get PEP2 certified, and get flooded with otises making you offers, pick one and seal the deal!  Thus adding validity to the whole SKIP program!  Yeah!  Do that!

I just love giving a gift of knowledge to other people and sharing what I have learnt during the 50 years I have been growing food. It’s a great feeling coming here, answering questions. I also like spreading the new about this site being awesome. This weekend I have 8 people coming over to talk about permaculture and organic gardening. I have already send them links to permies. Several have also requested that I do demonstration of how to preserve food.
Every time I do things like this, I bring more friends and neighbors here, and they love it, especially when they find out, that it’s true there are no trolls and no one will tell you a question is stupid. Spreading the word about permies is also a good way to volunteer, and you might end up making more friends.
