Thanks for this amazing website and for adding me I was trying to post a picture of me in the personal ads the picture won't come through. I don't know maybe it's been approved or something let me know.
When you make a post, underneath where you type is a tab that says attachments. When you go to that tab, it lets you "upload a file". When you click on that button, it will open a browse window. You just browse to the picture you want to attach and it will upload to your post.
Yes, in preview mode, none of the pictures show up, which made me *very* anxious when I was learning the system - particularly with my reputation of turning anything electronic in nature into a "brick".
Welcome to permies, Lane ru Woods, and keep speaking up if you run into difficulty, as we try to be very helpful.

Could this be considered a "glitch" in the "programming"? I admit that for a *very* long time, I only posted pictures from my own computer and only learned how to do web images fairly recently. I will post this discussion somewhere that staff with much more computer literacy than I have will see it, and we'll see what they say. Maybe they've never considered whether or not it could work differently.
As it just so happens, I added this idea to a list of features that we'd like to pursue. No guarantees but hopefully it can get prioritized. I agree, when attaching photos it would be very nice to have the picture show up in the preview. Most of the edits I have to do on my own posts are to make the words match up with the pictures once I see them all together. Inserted images hosted elsewhere on the web do show up in the preview pane (as mentioned by others already).

Trace, you are correct though once you attach those pictures to a thread on permies, you can then use the IMG button at the top for those pictures
The link I posted explains about using both the IMG button and the attachment.
