So many other things to do on such a beautiful day. So many. And yet, laying in a hammock under an impossibly blue sky seems like exactly the right thing to do!

When I first got the property, I made a point of doing it for at least a few minutes each day. Now that I am here full time, I seem to have let the busyness of getting stuff done crowd out my hammock time. High time I fix that. Hope you do too!

It actually sounds a little dangerous - I'd start thinking of cool stuff to do and make my list longer! I'd have to learn to be very zen in that hammock - no thinking allowed space.

Well Jay, you nailed it!  I already dreamed up more half-baked plans!  Kim, I have a couple of the rope hammocks in strategic creek side locations.

How about the new horizontal hammocks, the AMOCK Draumr and their XL is a great step forward





That said I don't have a Draumr. Around my property I have some several hammock chairs and one Thai hand woven hammock. I definitely like having the option around my 40 acres to lounge and watch the world around me, and a hammock is a great way to do that.

I don't have two trees to sling a hammock, so when I'm taking a break from working, I park the tractor by a tree, and sling my hammock. I had hooks welded on the tractor, they are for carrying things, but also for my hammock :)



When I used to backpack a lot I always carried a hammock, and spent a lot of time in it. Part of my life I had no bed, only a hammock in the house.

Gardens in my mind never need water
Castles in the air never have a wet basement

This is an example of one such chair, I didn't use the foot stool or the drink holder, but the hammock chair itself was nice as it was all weather.


I got this one as it is cotton rope and natural, but that is also its weakness as natural tend to break down.


I like natural, but the ability to have the 1st one out in all weather and have something left is nice.

I am planning to get more hammock chairs and regular hammocks to place around my property, that way you are never far from a good hang out.

BTW I highly recommend "tree savers" or "hammock straps"

But there is a lot of different ones out there. I got those because my local hardware store sold them. The idea is they aren't stretchy (like 550 cord is), usually they have multiple loops to make it easy to hang, and very importantly they tend to kinder on tree bark.

I have an ultralight "traveling hammock" (for use on a sailboat) made of parachute cord and fabric that folds up to the size of a good-sized grapefruit. I bought it in an Army-Navy store in Newport, RI, approximately a million years ago and have taken it around the world with me various times. I have never been sorry it took up space in my bag; it has been a portable rocking haven for colicky babies and kids with skinned knees, a place for me to take a breather when family get togethers get a bit stressful, and a nice place to take a nap and just look at the sky, the sea, the trees.
The model I have is Amazonas Traveller. A fabulous product.

Take time to "smell the roses"?  Of course one must do that!
I am building my final home, retired now and pushing 70, so things go a bit slower than when I was younger.
Two chairs are at my home, both outside, one out the front and one the back.
I make a point to sit for a few minutes in each every day, enjoying the view, contemplating the next project, and yes, making that dang list of things to do Much Much longer.   ;-)
Seriously, take the time to sit and enjoy your property, a real stress reliever for me.

Real funny, Scotty, now beam down my clothes!

There's only place for one hammock here. But I am only one person.
My hammock isn't hanging between trees, but from the 'gallery' of the apartments above mine (ground floor with garden). It's the woven kind, with the name of the island where I bought it, Curaçao, woven in.

You make a good point.  Our first summer on this property saw us sitting around more out doors and enjoying life.  I am going to have to change my routine.
