Kernza

Is it possible to buy kernza seed in small quantities for a few hundred square feet? I’d love to try some perennial grains but I can seem to find anyone that sells it.

Please let me know how it turns out. It sounds like a really useful plant.  I dont have much room left in my yard. Maybe I could find a little plot.

I've emailed them every season for three season and don't believe I've received a response (or at least one that wasn't an autogenerated email saying "thanks for your interest"). My guess is that they have such a relatively small amount of seed, and that they want to preserve so much of it for larger/broadacre farms and operations that they really don't want to orient any of it to small and hobby growers at the moment. If by some chance you do hear back from them, please share (and I'll do the same)!

I'd just order Kernza® Whole Grain from The Perennial Pantry with an US adress to ship back to canada. I'm hoping it will sprout and grow without difficulty. The total price is a bit pricey (50 $can), but i trust it will do the trick.

I purchased Kernza whole grain from Perennial Pantry. The grain is quite small as compared to wheat. Germination rate high.  Look for Thinopyrum intermedium at vendors like Great Basin Seeds. Anyone can grow it as long as they don't call it Kernza without permission.
