i can’t see the comb real clearly, but my blue wyandottes have that coloration.

My Chicken Whisperer says, " I think its an Americauna". A better picture would be appreciated, as she says the Wyandotte is a possibility but the comb doesn't seem quite right.

Looks like an Americauna. Looks like a hen. If it lays blue eggs you know for sure.

there does kinda look like there’s a bit of beard there. since ameracaunas don’t really have %100 definitive features (egg color included, really), that’s probably a safe bet.

I dont see it as a Wyandotte due to the lack of feather markings.

The most recent picture posted is a rooster. But, I have recently collect small gray blue eggs (a young hen). Up to this point I have has barred rocks.  My wife picked up a mixed box of chicks from a local breeder with no guarantees.

I figure if someone from the future hasn’t tried to stop me, I can’t be messing up that bad.

not all wyandotte’s are ‘laced’. i’m gonna have to go get a pic too, huh?

but the beard on that bird makes pretty clear it’s not a wyandotte.

here’s one of my girls. hatchery blue wyandotte. not the best picture of her coloring, but you can see she doesn’t have lacing.

If it helps, when they were younger, they looked a great deal like Hawks.  They like to perch high.

I would say Ameraucana from what I can see in the photo. Muff and I think the legs are slate blue? I can't see the shape of the comb for certain. If it has a pea comb in addition to muff and blue legs that is sort of the Americauna trifecta. This link has info about comb shapes.

On the topic of what breed is this chicken can someone help me... I don’t know if she is a golden sebright... a Wyandotte or a cross breed of the 2

My friend who knows lots about chickens says, " I think it's a Wyandotte. Sebrights are generally tiny - but it's hard to get a sense of scale from the picture, and she looks young."

It looks similar to my gold lace wyandottes.  And I agree with the earlier statement about "easter eggers".  They look very hawk like to me.  They are probably my favorite chickens.  I love their personalities as well as the way they look.

Yes she is young she’s only about 16 weeks or so.... and I thought she was a gold laced Wyandotte.... people I bought her from said she was a Sebright....

Is it possible that she could be a Barnevelder hen??ive seen pictures of these and she looks very similar.

Apologies for slightly hijacking this post...my friend has a chicken that lays both blue AND white eggs depending on the day...how? Why? Can an Easter egger only lay colored eggs SOMETIMES?

John, that first chicken looks like an Ameracauna to me. Especially if it lays blue eggs & looked like a hawk when younger. Mine have a more mottled coloring so they still look like hawks as adults. I've never seen a white egg from them but I think it's possible. Have seen some very pale blue ones. They are the newest breed in my mixed flock & they've been good to have around. The seem to be a bit more observant than the other breeds. They run for cover at the first sign of predators & all the other chickens follow.

Argue for your limitations and they are yours forever.

My chicken friend says she's never heard of that, but one possibility is that the colour is stronger or weaker a little depending on the day, and that if you're looking at it under different light or a different background, the colour may be more or less obvious.
It would be great if you saved an egg of each extreme and took a photo of the pair. My friend would be fascinated and she can use that about now! (Please -    )

Jay: I will ask for pics. (edit) There are 15 hens in one pen. Everyday she gets a 11-12 eggs, 4-5 blue, 6-7 white, from a mixed group where 4 are KNOWN Easter Egg (dang, can't remember the spelling ameruanca?) chickens. Apparently one is "beigey/tan" when there are only 4 blue eggs, the color variant - extra blue, no tan - seems very consistent.  We too had found nothing to support this aberration.
