A laid back and long day here... how could it be both??

I checked on my fermenting tea leaves, they are steamy inside and darkening to dark green/black.

Then I decided I've been too lazy and I'm getting soft. I went around the hillside and picked up logs until I got tired. And after getting tired, found some logs that have to be brought down by hand because no vehicle can reach them. So i grabbed one and carried at least one down.

I went around to give so tent caterpillars a bad day too. There are several little patches around. Some on a few apple, plums, and cherries. So I took a rake to them and broke open the webs so so flying predators can get at them.

I got a few more BB's submitted today. I've been building up my herbal collection.

Last thing we did today was make the most awesome Tiki Tuesday. I grilled some jerk chicken and pineapple on the egg grill but Lara stole the show with Sloppy Joes, mango cucumber salad, a veggie slaw, upside down pineapple cake... Everything was great and we made far too much for the nine of us.

Tomorrow bootcamp is back on!

Back to boot work today. I'm finally back in the garden and wow they have grown. Mostly grown grass, but everything else has changed too. Berries are ripe, greens are going to seed, and my kale plants have quadrupled.

I had to disrupt some more tent caterpillars today. A small patch on a yellow transparent apple and a few leaves on the largest, strongest apple. It does seem they are affecting most the weakest trees.

Good news though, the nectarine has no caterpillars and set a few fruits this year. Looking forward to those and the cherries ripening soon.

For our afternoon session, we went over all the work needing to get done. Of course now there are only the three of us boots here to do it.

*Hint: I'd be really great for those waiting list peeps to come on out to Montana*

Anyway, I pulled out my raspberries I had drying in the dehydrator. If I'm being honest, I'm not thrilled with the results. they have a weird crunch but no sweetness. I'll use them in something I guess.

Another maintenance day here.

We soaked down the gardens, cleaned off a few more tent caterpillars, cleaned up the classroom, and put away some tents.

Dez took me to the creek and showed me the new pump and method to fill up. It is a bit slower but very quiet. Much nicer.

Today's pictures are little moments I caught.

It has been a slow weekend here, it's still too hot to work outside for long.

I helped Orin out on his shelter this morning while it was still cool. He is onto putting up his slip straw walls so I prepped clay slip while he hydrated straw and mixed the slip straw. The work spend up once we got the mix right.

Otherwise I've been hiding inside, reading, and taking a break. And letting the heat do some work by drying the event laundry.

Back to work on Monday.

I broke down the clay into powder and hydrated it. Just stepped on it then ground it down between two boards.
