SKIP is winding down here. A bit sad but everybody is slowing down.
I spent the morning making cedar shakes and a club mallet from a tree root.
The shakes were fun. Just took a few taps with a mallet and froe and you've got a shake.
Making the mallet took awhile. I looked for a piece of wood that was fairly dry and very tough. On the hillside, I found a pine trunk drying out. It has lots of rings and some knots.
In the afternoon I got together a bunch of BB's submitted. After weeks of work I lost track of what I had done. Now I've got a string of pictures I have to piece together into BB's.
And tonight I have to visit Cooper Cabin and water my mushrooms and feed some sourdough starters.
I have a few more BB's I'd like to get done this week. Let's see what I feel like doing tomorrow.

I'm probably going to use these on the sauna roof.

I'd like to thank Greg for his massive shipment of dried fruit! It was addressed to Nine, but she willed it to Lara and it's been split up. Everybody enjoyed them. Thanks again Greg!
So glad you guys enjoy them. Nine was going to share them so I had to go big! Let me know if you're craving anything....boot love is important :) Thank you guys for what you're doing....so very much appreciated.
I went off script for Skip stuff today. I chose to return to the natural medicine BB's and harvest a bunch of goodies on the lab.
I picked just over two pounds of Black Raspberries, St. John's Wort flowers, Horsetail stalks, Mullein leaf, Dandelion roots and leaves, Sage, Lemon Balm, Oregano, Oregon Grape Root Bark, and Yarrow flowers.
A very good haul.
I'm going to dry all of it and build up a store of medicinals.
I went on a long hike while I was up at the lab. The peace and quiet was nice.

The bowl counts as 4.4oz.

Doesn't look like a lot but these took some time to pick

Took this picture on my hike, all the purple flowers are fireweed. They look like purple honeysuckle flowers up close.
A nice slow day today, the bootcamp is taking today and tomorrow off as recovery days from the events.
I started my day with a walk around a bit of the Lab with Paul. Talking about where and how the road to my plot can go.
After our walk and talk I picked raspberry leaves by Cooper Cabin. I'm going to ferment them and dry them for tea. I bruised them and stuck them into our slow cooker chest at 120 degrees.
I also pulled out a bunch of dried stuff out of the solar dehydrator. The sage, mullein, dandelion leaves and root were dry. I also pulled out some kinnikinnik and lambs quarters that were left in there from Skip projects. Everybody from the Skip is gone so it's going to the pantry here.
Other than that, we did some prep for Tiki Tuesday. Not tacos, we changed over to tropical this week. Lara put together an awesome menu and it's going to be great.
