This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the sand badge in Natural Medicine.

For this BB, you will create an oil infusion of rose blossom using plant material you harvested. Oil infusion is a method of extracting desired compounds from plant material by steeping the material in warm or cool oil.

Minimum requirements:
  - Make an infused oil using plant material you harvested
  - Use rose blossom

To document completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (< 2 minutes):
 - Harvested plant material (either being harvested or just harvested)
 - Making the infusion (plant material in oil) with a description of the oil and any other ingredients you used
 - Finished (strained) infused oil in its labeled jar

I picked roses and dried the petals over summer. This month, I used a spice grinder to grind the dried petals with dried rosehips. Then I mixed them with almond oil and gently heated them in a crockpot. Then it sat for a couple of weeks until I was ready to strain it. The rose petals and rosehips had all settled to the bottom, so I spooned off most of the oil on top. I plan to make a salve with this part. The rest of the unstrained oil and rose pieces were put in a separate jar, and I'll add sugar to this for a sugar scrub.
The strained oil is the jar with orange colored oil, and the unstrained oil is the deeper red.

My mom has a rose bush so I harvested the petals and made an infused oil. I did the slow method and let it infuse for a month in a dark cabinet. Going to make salve with it!
