It was time for this.  Ordinarily I use a homemade blend of beeswax and mineral oil, But that is lost to the basement.  So it was coconut oil this time.

This looks like a lot of oil, but it's for all the stuff.

Six oiled things plus firestarters!

I used coconut oil and used my hands to rub it in, paper towel...er, fire starter to wipe.  Is it sad that I didn't know I needed to be doing this?

I used coconut oil for mine. Started off with just 6 items, but then my hands were already oily so I figured I might as well do everything. Wiped off the excess with a paper towel.

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

Gasp! are those Myabi damascus blades?  Nice.  You have earned your second badge bit!  You get an air badge for your first certified badge in each category (22 in all.)  As you do more of the badge bits in a category you can earn more advanced badges.

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

Nicole, here is a link that shows all the aspects.  Feel free to ask if you have questions.  Its a comprehensive endeavor.

Yes those are Miyabi! I got one of them new and the larger one secondhand. My favourite one though is the one to the left. Was handmade by someone from on the US (pig iron forge on Instagram) and handle made from reclaimed xylophone. The bread knife is a Japanese made one, so is the hinoki chopping board.

I agree. Here's the link: https://woodheat.net
