What a fun BB! I mapped beginner's geocaching points in my area (so happy to see I'm not the only nerd here!). Our first outing years ago with little kids resulted in ONE find out of eight. It was disappointing. We've gotten much better over the years. I mapped easy points and wrote up a cheat sheet for the parents so that those taking younger ones could let the kids try, and then help if needed (tried to upload this, but it won't upload Word docs). Pics are of the three most interesting caches (BRT, Romance, Birds).
Here's an example of the "cheats":
B.R.T.
N 47° 26.798 W 122° 50.177
Large cache with swag. Daylight hours only. You’ll need this number to open the log: 12287 (6921 + 5366). Turn on NW Roessel Road and follow it around the curve to the end of the pavement. Watch speed limit (10 mph). Look for blue/green mushroom sculpture. Note: There are two harder to find caches within 300 yards of this one. See Geocaching.com to find them if your children are up to it. This is an elaborate cache and probably best done last; the others won’t live up to it.

:
Better pix of the locations rather than the caches would be preferable but I'm going to certify it. It's seems perfect for teaching kids though! This BB is complete.

Do perennials count as "named areas?" I realized I'm the only who knows what I've planted. As overgrown as the area is right now, my husband could easily try to "help" and cut something down. I need it to be useful for people besides me, so I didn't give any pithy names.
Here's my map of perennial points of interest. I numbered the areas instead of trying to fit all of the names, and the type of plant determines the shape and color around the numbers. It's in pen and colored pencil. I had it rolled up so it *wouldn't* get messed up, but then my kid grabbed and squished it...

This is going to be used for handing to future tenants of the apartment (that could be you! purple mooseage me if you're looking for a good growing space/food forest-ish + apartment to steward and benefit from very near Harvard Square in Boston, MA!).

Someone flagged this submission as an edge case BB. BBV price: 0 Note: Map is unclear. Recommend resubmission with arrows removed with symbols representing the different locations and a legend to explain the map.
I've noticed that some submissions to this BB seem to be more self-focused, rather than community focused. This is the Community Badge, and so I think the map should be usable and helpful for those in your community. A stranger should be able to look at your map and have it help them navigate the depicted area with better easy.
Having it be visually appealing &/or simple and educational is a big plus. Maps are fun!
Sorry it wasn't clear. I like arrows, so I'll provide the two different versions for people coming here.
Trying again. I took out the arrows.
Note, I didn't quite understand what you were saying in your comment, Nicole, and maybe you could clarify a bit more, but my intention here is to leave something for people who come here after. I am moving out, hopefully by the end of the month, and I won't benefit from this map in any way. So rather than having this resource get dug up, destroyed, or even just ignored, the knowledge of the resource gets handed off to someone else. I may not know the someone else and may never even have a conversation with them, but they will at least have the information about what's in their back yard so they can make use of it if they choose. And I don't have any control over whether they do use it or not, but I can provide the information and hopefully inspire them to make use of it and carry the work forward. Likely as not I won't even meet the new tenant, and the landlord may or may not pass on the info, I can only make the request. Maybe the future tenants will paddock some chickens, maybe feed them mulberries. Maybe the neighborhood will use this map collectively to do these things even if the resident doesn't want to. It's not for me, it's for the future people and future generations even, that's why I see this as an essential contribution to community. I have at least pointed at stuff to the next-door neighbor a number of times, but she's really busy taking care of 2 kids and holding down a job and the bills to be up for taking on chickens herself. But maybe with a new tenant here who's enthused this could be the start of something. I've learned that I can't control other people and I can't force community to happen, but I can keep making contributions and hopefully something will stick. That's why I think this is an important map for enriching the community and even, perhaps, feeding them or providing food security.

Note--American chestnut will need a second tree for pollination (can be younger but it needs one). Also note that this will eventually shade out the pear tree, two of the black walnuts if not the third, and the mulberries, but by that point these should be no longer that needed (they are pretty plentiful). The mate chestnut will have to live in an agreeable neighbor's yard. (i.e. not the #@$#$ who--)
