This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in tool care.

This is just like the sand badge for making handles. Just make another handle for something in this list.

Examples of tool handles that qualify for this BB are:
 - axe
 - hatchet
 - maul
 - sledge
 - hammer
 - pick
 - pickaxe
 - pulaski

To get certified for this BB, post three pics:

  - pic of tool with missing/broken/inadequate handle
  - pic of new handle under construction
  - pic of tool with new wedge-style handle installed

Do we post here or just post a different submission to the sand badge bit?

I did this handle at the same time as my first one so the wood is from the same block so they look quite similar, but if you must look carefully at the back of the axe head (this one is rounded, the other was square for striking with a mallet) and the shape of the handle (this one has a more curvy contour) to verify they are different axes.

More pictures will be posted on my restoration thread: https://permies.com/t/171170/ungarbage/Restoring-hand-tools

Here at WL, Stephen had an axe head that was in need of a new handle. I think I used hickory wood.
