Carved this spoon out of a fir tree that was cut in December. Tools included a knife and hatchet.
It was fun and I look forward to making more.

Here's my submission.

This was made from the same dry alder that I made my Mallet.

It would've been much easier if the wood was green.

I don't have any good whittling tools, so I used a utility knife. It was a pain cutting in the bowl, but I managed.

The whole process took me about 2hrs or so.

Spoon carving. The knot at the end made a nice little hook so i developed it.

I took a photo of a few logs, and started to make a spoon with the lilac wood. This was harder than expected and cracked before I finished it.
The middle log was from a black locust and was a lot easier to work with.

My big long ugly spoon, thinking it’s a taste tester... and used the curve of the stick to keep the bowl off of the counter.

I enjoy carving spoons when I get a chance.  I'll send you some shots of my favorite hardwood spoon I use in the kitchen.  I went a little thin on the front end of the bowl which made it a great stirrer, scooper and scraper.

Love this spoon.

I made a spoon over the past few days.  It's currently kind of ugly so I'll keep whittling on it.

Ok, I kept at it.  Mainly to make it pretty.  Now I think it's well past "big, ugly and nearly useless".  I think it might be worth renaming the BB something like "Carve a big spoon" to realign expectations.
