This coming week only, Permies is being featured in a Tshirt Contest over at http://TshirtContest.com.

We need your votes to democratically decide on the best design!

And if you're an artist, you are especially welcome to submit designs in the competition. On Monday the 12th at noon, http://TshirtContest.com/contest/currentcontest/ opens to submissions and voting. Tell a fellow Permie so they don't miss out!

We look forward to a great contest and an awesome new t-shirt design. Be there!

Sorry for wrong thread posting... I'll bump this back where it belongs..on top!

How about "Get out of Nature's Way!" or "Get out of Mom's way!" And a 'grandma' (named "Ma Permie ?") offering a BIG bowl, with a rim label "PERMACULTURE" that is overflowing with food, smiles, money, chickens, trees, water, kids, sunshine, deer, dandelions, etc. I see the 'grandma' looking kind of like Sepp ;)

Hey Paul I sent you a graphic idea for the podcast masthead a while back I haven't heard anything back from you about it so I assume you didn't like it or simple chose not to use it, no worries. no harm no foul but as far as design competitions go they are a terrible idea. Its not unlike going out for dinner every night during the week and only offering to pay for the one meal you like the best. they are in my opinion unethical and devalue design they are bad for designers and clients. please don't summit the design I sent you in a competition. If you'd like me to design you a t-shirt let me know and I am sure we can work something out (lord knows I've learned enough from you to owe you a few favours) But I won't ever enter any of my work in a contest nor do I believe any competent self respecting designer would.

Oh, check out the tree people design.

Who was it that suggested a t-shirt for Paul about not making nature his b*tch? It was in another thread somewhere...

Peter,

I am currently about 50,000 emails behind right now. And falling behind by another 20 or so per day.

There is a thread in this forum for the blog header thing. I check into it pretty regularly. All submissions for that need to go into that thread or else they will probably be lost forever in my email pile.

These are great and I voted for my favorite.

I wish there was one that reflected "The Problem IS The Solution"

I like the two trees.... Would have voted but hate signing up to a site just to vote on something..

Would it be possible to combine two designs on one shirt? On the back could be the trees, and on the front could be maybe the rocket stove or weeds one, or in top left corner, in the front, just text saying permies.com? Not sure how much it would impact the price....

Really like all the designs so far!

I have a black sweatshirt now with just a logo on the back and nothing on the front.. It looks, weird and outa place....

I'd where a shirt with a picture from the podcast page. http://www.richsoil.com/permaculture/

I second Richard's feelings about having to sign up to vote. I have enough stuff cluttering up my email the way it it!

That said, there are a few of the designs that I would purchase and wear, often.

I voted for my favorite. Nice stuff. I guess I won't submit mine, since it doesn't have any fancy graphics:

I would wear that t-shirt.... Sometimes simple is the best, and if people can't read and comprehend, then that's a whole nother set of issues....

(I suggested changing the message to "Resistance is Futile: mother nature refuses to be your personal bitch")

I WANTED TO WRITE THAT!!! I really did, but I didn't want to get an explicit label on the shirt. I'm sensitive to this since I live in the bible belt south. I also noticed that the thumbnail font didn't convert, so here's what the tee really looks like:

Paul,

I've submitted both now. One is explicit and the other is the same as it was. We'll see what the community wants on this one.

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. As an artist, I live on coffee and praise!

Hey, if you are quoting me, then do the "-- Paul Wheaton, permies.com" thing .... (oh yeah, building my evil empire on t-shirts)

I was struggling with "resistance is fertile".

now I'm thinking, what if you took out "resistance is fertile" completely?

And they won't stop! Relentlessly marching over your land! Year after year, until you do their bidding!!! Which is to allow them to do their job so you can have rich, amazing soil to grow amazing, nutritious food! Those darned weeds! I love 'em <sniff - sniff>

Could 'permies.com' be slipped in somewhere, for those whose curiosity has been piqued? It is a very beautiful design ;)

And Charles is especially clear and direct... and with the website!

Alright Nancy, I submitted it to the website. I would like to wear several of the designs. I wonder if after all of this we will only be able to buy the winning design.

Here is the final design, although it could be modified to allow for those wearing overalls, but who really wears those anymore?

Hey guys, I wanted to say thanks for the participation on TshirtContest.com! We have a few surprise artists from the permies community that are really shining. Thanks especially for your VOTES! all of which keep it nice and democratic. Nothing more assuring than mob mentality, right? ;P Keep the votes coming! We want a true winner to prevail.

I love the design which won, Weeds: Resistance is Fertile. I think it is the most visually appealing. If I hadn't spent all my money on Christmas gifts, I would buy the one called Grow Your Own. Is that even possible? Can we buy ones which didn't win?

I too love the design that won, and bought the shirt! Though I agree with the various posters above: it could have been much improved by including "Resistance is Futile: mother nature refuses to be your personal bitch! --Paul Wheaton, permies.com" The existing slogan just confuses too many people on first read.

Okay, a question for Paul in regards to your post of 12.16.11 - the t-shirt design with the permies.com topics across a globe framed by the podcast sign-off is excellent! Who designed that one? Is it in print? Where can I buy it?!!!

Thanks...

Matthew, We're looking into printing that tee right now. I'll have it up at homesteadgear.com. I'm just starting this site. The tee that's there now is actually for sale, so check it out. I'm trying to get the money up to print the next ones. Eventually, I'd like to have a bunch of permaculture tees in there.

Thanks for your interest!

@Alex - Excellent! Please keep us updated in this thread when you have it ready for sale. And when your website is no longer under construction - I'm sure I will like to check it out. I see the T you already have up there. That one's pretty nice too. Otherwise, however, no links on the page are functional.

Thanks!
