i like that one too...maybe you could do what I have noticed Paul doing sometimes and narrow the list and have folks vote with a thumbs up....we might all just have too many versions to look at right now and there are maybe just a few that are appropriate and close enough to done. I think the permies apple looks good also and what I think was called the generic one......just thinking out loud again:)

Yeah Judith I think that is what we will definitely do, the contest thing. Not sure when though, probably soon. We just wanted to get as many options thrown around as possible first!

I like the "overall smaller" but I also like the "bunny" overalls. I agree that an overalls icon is more likely to be uniquely associated with permies.com, versus any kind of apple.

So I have been slacking on this project because I have been doing other things but here is another overalls one that has less white and not so many seams. What do we think?

I prefer the green background "bunny overalls" that are 5 posts up. The one immediately above seems a little washed out, with the gray and white.

I don't think having only two colors is a hard requirement, but maybe that's just me. I think I need to go back to the early pages of this thread and look at the blue overalls icons again. . .

I feel a little attached to the bunny overalls - I have come to associate them with Permies!

Some thoughts on how to make the overalls a little less bunny-ish:
--go back to the full pair of overalls and make the legs form a "P" shape (for "Permies) instead of both legs being straight.
--on the diagonal bunny overall icon, zoom in even closer and lop off most of one of the "ears". Then put a "P" on the pocket.

Caveat - I ain't no graphic designer. Hell, I can't even draw a stick figure on a computer! So take all above suggestions with a grain of salt.

And I think the "overall bunny" character could become a meme very easily - which might be lots of fun and INCREASE recognition. "What's the overall bunny (or monster) doing today? He's planting out a new hugelkultur."

Is there anyone who would know how to give this a try?

- Respectfully I must give my 2 cents worth here ! To my mind the image of one pant leg hiked up to form the letter P -Well does the expression Pee-Pee Dance
mean anything to you, Urine recycling is a good thing and part of Permies, but I would am not sure It symbolizes our 'Core' values

Definitely have to see the result to block the picture that is in my mind Big AL

Here's the "P" pocket. I think we still have the foreground/background imbalance problem. And, it looks kinda busy....Hmmm...

I agree! Plus, it would be tiny, and the top of the overalls would keep it from looking like a "P."

The skinny overalls don't look much like overalls to me...

OK, I went back through and I don't see a full body overalls image - is that on a different thread? I worry that if you pull back the "camera" far enough to get shoulder to ankles, then shrink the image to 32x32 pixels, it's not going to be very clear that what you are looking at is overalls.

I would love to see the overall "top," either slanted or "bunny" style, in denim blue and brown. When put onto the permies.com home page, it would need to be reversed, brown overalls on a blue background. Since I have a nice pair of brown Carhart overalls, I think that would be fine!

We have already done both of those things. Please see these threads:

Permies Banner Buffet (Back where I started this icon journey) (there is a full body overalls icon at the bottom of the first page)

New Icon for Permies (here we have a bunch of browns and blue versions)

Since we want the foreground white, to match other icons, I made the backgrounds brown and denim for you

- Just a thought, often when you are going online to have a business presence there, you want a name like no one else's and it is very important to acquire the 'rights to'
both the .com and .org suffixes !

I would think that we want any Icon that we will use to have a version with the '' P '' in it sewed up too (no pun intended) Big AL

A late Thought, I now have a very cutesy image of a little girls 'jumper' with her 1st initial sewed on, not a 'dirt under your fingernails' -'' we feed the world good Food'' image!

I don't think we need the P necessarily.. This icon isn't going to be used in business matters, it is just going to be a social media icon, like the bird for twitter or what not.

Hi again everyone! I am just dropping by to let everyone know what paul and I discussed in our most recent icon conversation! So he actually like this apple the most:

But I think he still likes the overalls idea better. He likes this overalls one:

But we were wondering if we could get someone to basically simplify it a little bit. He said he wants the straps to basically just be like rectangles, with spaces in between them and the body part of the overalls. And he wants to get rid of all the seams and detail, but put a P in the pocket, but not this P: because he wants a p that is more just like a swoop.. sort of like this: but not as sloppy haha

So who's up for it?!

I don't quite know what a Superhero "P" would look like, so I made my first "P" wider. Then I tried a few fonts that Google told me were "superhero" fonts. Any to your liking? Any changes you want made?

Me neither
I like Nicole's, er, 'spiderman overalls p' best -it's the clearest to my crappy eyes, especially if it was a little bolder.
It also fits into the pocket nicely.

The only way I would think a P could look like a superhero was if it had a cape flapping in the wind from its hypothetical shoulders.. and beings our icons are so so small I believe that would be pretty much impossible. let us know if you had something else in mind though Paul.

never mind, i just did it.. ha but yeah I am not sure that will work because it would probably have to be even smaller than this to fit into the pocket on the overalls.. or were you just thinking of just the super P by itself?

i rotated the P a little so that it might be recognized as the superman shape.

I also added a little angle to the straps just above the bibs.

I know I pretty much made it worse - but I think this was better than trying to say it in english.
