Seriously good work, great to see that level of attention to detail.

On a slightly tangent train of thought relating to SVGs: Is there any chance of seeing some Plotly (https://plot.ly/) analysis going on on site? I know that means more admin work but it is a fantastic free and open tool to make sense of comparative data - so why not?

Awww.. Thanks. Figure if i can't do the work in seed and soil at the moment I might as well use my current skill set to help the Permaculture movement go forward. I will try and keep helping where I can. Looking forward to it. Watched this for a month or so now. Great seeing the progress and the team work. Glad that I could take the ideas and just polish them up a bit at the end.

My favorite thing about the carousel in missoula is that it was hand carved by the community.

And I think the same thing can be said for this icon. Take a look at this earliest thread.

Then we had the rabbit phase.

And then we moved into this very long thread:

This has been over a year in the making. And it was all community stuff. I really like that the icon for this community was "hand carved by the community".

It can link to wherever you want! If you have a project thread here on permies, that would maybe be an idea. Or if you have a website and your website has a thread here on permies, the icon could maybe link to that. The main idea for this icon was for people and websites to create a thread dedicated to their stuff and then link to it with the icon on their blog or website or whatever.

I would most likely link to the home page for the forums: https://permies.com/forums/

Some people like the home page for the empire: https://permies.com

Some people might want to link to their favorite forum, a forum they are talking about: https://permies.com/forums/f-117/hugelkultur

To be kinda social, a person might link to their page: https://permies.com/u/168477/Paul-Sims

A company might want to link to the page about their stuff: https://permies.com/t/25250/resources/Peaceful-Valley-Farm-Garden-Supply

Somebody might have a blog and they link to the discussion of their blog/farm/project: https://permies.com/t/11978/projects/Vermont-site

The next phase will be to add badges that have bonus info about a forum, a user or a thread. To that end, one of the staff at coderanch have added a feature to collect the information that might be of use in this space:

https://permies.com/rest/n/u/168477
https://permies.com/rest/n/f/117

I am asking for those of us who are not computer savvy...I get where we use it and why...just not step by step how we pick it up and put it where we want it..... or does it just tag along with a permies link where ever we go?

So... are these for us all to use as our profile images on social media to spread Permies.com & Permaculture in general OR are they licensed, protected & guarded against usage outside strictly defined instances?

Noticed this Icon on my browser tab. The Favicon doesn't match what our final logo is. Then again it seems to pop up at random. I can create another 16x16px favicon for this purpose if needed.

What do you mean it doesn't match it? It looks just like the one you posted in this post: https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/240/39087#314397

And yes, we are working on getting it to come up consistently.

I guess the official stance is "copyright paul wheaton - you can use these for, you know, stuff. As long as it doesn't piss me off."

Similar but not the same... The double stroke treatment isn't something I posted. I don't mind it the only thing that bugs me is that the bottom part of the super shape is thicker than the top. I am maybe being too picky.

Adrien put in an earlier version.

But I still see carrots.

I've seen the earlier version pop up a couple of times. Anybody know how to get the carrots to go away and see just the new favicon?

So you would need to use an html link to get the image to link back to permies. It would look like this:

<a href="https://permies.com/forums" rel="nofollow"><img src="https://permies.com/t/26632/a/10046/icon_128x128px.png"></a>

You would put the URL of whatever thread or forum you wanted the icon to link back to, in between the first two quotation marks. Then, you would put the image URL in between the last two quotation marks. Then when people click the icon, it will take them to whatever thread or forum you put in this code.

You would do this in a blog or website. As far as anything else, I am not entirely sure.

It's the one I did to resemble
That's why the bottom is thicker.

I think we should have it br the same super shape and font (and color) as is on the overalls. The whole purpose is to have a recognizable logo, right? If it doesn't march the overall favicon, we're going to be confusing people, I would think...

Like this, but Ryan will have better luck making it the right size. The one that CJ used has an outline, whereas the overalls' does not. The font and shape are also different, too, of course...

I like it without the green square behind it. It helps the super shape stand out on its own and makes it look less generic. Hope the preview I made helps. I do think consistent branding is important. Especially right out of the gate. Sorry if this causes any headaches.

You need to clear your browser cache and depending on the browser, restart it.

I just noticed the newest big 'P' icon on my tabs and all, and I think this one looks great...........it's just a bit larger and stretched downward a bit? It shows up even more clearly now as a 'P'.

Alright I am a little bit confused because the icon that I thought we all (paul included) decided on is here: https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/240/39087#314397

However, that icon is different from the icon that is in the browser tabs. The P is different. Why is this?

other than maybe a conversion to the .ico format... depending on what format you use. The Gif is potentially fine

hey I have two requests - one - could someone try to make a 16x16 icon with the overalls? right now the 16x16 one we have is just the diamond P thing and I am just wondering if anyone could try to give it a shot. I know it will be difficult because it is so small but we just want to see if it would be possible.

Also, I know a few of you were making these images where you would put our permies icon next to the other social media icons like this

I know that is the wrong permies icon but i am just using it as an example.

What I want is someone to do the same thing, but with the correct icon and with this image:

So it would be the 16x16 icon, and if you want to try the request I made above (making the 16x16 one an overalls one) you can do that, or you can just use the one here: https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/26632#209205

adrien said that he did use the icon from here: https://permies.com/forums/posts/list/26632#209205 but he used the svg file and just changed the dimensions to the dimensions he needed for the favicon (the one in the browser) so that is why it looks stretched apparently..

Alright so I tried to shrink it down to 16x16 myself and came up with this:

"I suspect that somebody that knows how to work with svg can make it sharper than i did.

Here is what I have... The overalls are so so small so it make it a little tough to make everything out. Added rounded corners and some light reflection to it. Good?
