pictures loaded directly from facebook to permies disappear after awhile

Just an observation for those who use fb  

I've noticed this for awhile and although there are other reasons why photos might 'disappear', this one seems fairly predictable.
In the past, I've copied photos from my profile at fb to my profile here and they lasted maybe a month?  and the same with a few others in various threads.

I don't think there's a solution on this end (or a problem)...it must be something that is done there?  The photos still appear there, just not here.

In another situation, I had the Guggenheim book site snatch back a photo I had in a thread about them and leave a 'don't do that note'.

FB is anti-sharing of stuff for non-FB users.  

They seem to do something to the images every couple of days so if someone shared them outside FB, they don't stay.

That's one of the reasons why we encourage people to upload the images here.

If you notice any disappeared photos, let us know.  Sometimes we can get them back again.

I've been meaning to post something for awhile after noticing it happen with mine...the thread that reminded me today though was this one  https://permies.com/t/24/121013/Vintage-crochet-magic-beans-water

a few were missing from the last page but now I see they are all there again so maybe that was just me and my tablet?

Nope.  I'd say about half of those pictures weren't available for me either when I was browsing.  And I thought it might be my computer settings.  But they're all visible now.  Humph.  Magic!

I found out so too. But not all photos posted from facebook do disappear.
I tried different ways to share photos from facebook to threads here. With different results ...
But now the new version of facebook made it even more difficult! Only my 'facebook friends' were able to see my photos here.
So I decided to start using the other way to post photos in threads on Permies. Without using Facebook. I started a personal thread (in the 'secret' part of the forums). I hope this will work better.

in almost all BB-posts I did before I noticed this problem. the photos are disappeared. I know now the good way to post photos. But those old posts I can not edit anymore (only if I report and then wait for permission to edit, which I think is bothersome for the admins / stewards of the forum). What to do? Post a new post in the BB-thread, with the photos?
