Got excess items you are willing to sell or trade? Have things you are looking for you hope someone is willing to sell? Post them here!!
Tips: Put the item's general location in the title shipping from other countries gets expensive. It's sad to get excited about something, and realize it would cost a fortune to ship it.
Make your subject line easy for people to know what you have or want. Put first, in [brackets] whether it's free, for sale, wanted, or trade, then your title, with a location.
[for sale] 2 Dexter cows, Kansas, USA
[wanted] male Nubian Goat, Brisbane, AU
[trade] 3 point 6 ft scraper blade for a cart my goat can pull, SW MO, US
Use the PM feature for giving an address, email address, or phone number,DO NOT post it publicly. We want no problems from this, and this forum IS VISIBLE to the entire internet, and the search engines. Keep private info private, it is just a good policy.
When it sells, hit the report button, and tell the moderators it has sold, and we will mark it sold, and we will lock the thread so there can be no more posts in it. We will not remove it though, so do NOT put your phone number or any other personal information in it, as it will be visible permanently. That will give future sellers an idea of how to do it well, and prices that were offered.
Remember the be nice rule, and report any problem posts, threads or PMs to the moderators immediately. There's a REPORT button on each post, and on the bottom right of each PM.
Let the swapping begin, I officially open this forum!
:D
Wondering if this is the right place to post or look for an item?
In this Flea Market forum people can sell, give away, trade, etc their livestock, seeds, used tools, handicrafts, etc.
Permies also has the Digital Market for both ebooks and physical items. The Digital Market is more formal and more for things that are always in stock.
And, Permies has the Blatant Advertising forum, which is for advertising a business or corporate sales.
If you have any questions about where to post, start a thread in the Tinkering With This Site forum, and people can help you figure out what is best for you.
We've always allowed sales, but now we have one place to find them to make it easier for everyone.

I think encouraging the use of location tags in titles would be a great idea, as it would make a huge difference in browsing speed. I am not interested in things in Australia, shipping is absurd... and probably Aussies are not interested in most things from Canada...

Oooh, absolutely! I'll edit my first post to include this! Thank you!!
Would it be okay to give a general location and post a "Wanted" request. Sometimes we get stumped looking for a used item through the 'normal' want-ad channels and would benefit from those here who may know where to find such an item. Thanks!

Absolutely!!
Follow the posting tips above, so the title would say something like "Wanted: broadfork, Missouri, USA"
I made both this thread and the How to make a Flea Market thread as sticky forum link things at the top of the forum. Hopefully that'll make them a bit easier for people to spot!
For multiple items, would it be better to make one post, and list them all (particularly for similar or related items)? Or separate posts for each item?
Hm. I'd suggest no more than 5 or so items per thread... ? Keeps it from being "oh, all but this one are gone" which is always sad when the one you wanted went away.
EDIT: If they are all identical, probably list them all in one post.
