This is a badge bit (BB) that is part of the PEP curriculum.  Completing this BB is part of getting the straw badge in textiles.

In this project, you will sew a full-bib apron with pockets.  The apron can be any style as long as it covers the chest and thighs.

To complete this BB, the minimum requirements are:
 - sew a full-bib apron
 - include at least one pocket
 - apron covers chest and is mid-thigh or longer
 - use natural materials

To document your completion of the BB, provide proof of the following as pictures or a video (less than two minutes):
 - the material(s) you're using
 - the apron in progress with your pattern or sewing technique visible
 - the finished apron on a body

Here are some images to inspire and each is linked to its source and more information about aprons:

Here is my submission for the Textiles - Straw for Wood - Wardrobe List - Full-Bib Apron BB.

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
     - the material(s) you're using
     - the apron in progress with your pattern or sewing technique visible
     - the finished apron on a body

The material for this first apron is from a cotton sheet that is a light chambray-type material, not flannel.  The pattern is based on this one from Tessuti.  I looked at dozens of cross-body apron patterns and integrated ideas from several and after test fitting this apron, I altered the pattern to be a one-piece apron with one shoulder seam, no facings (rolled hem all the way around), and two pockets.  I made the pockets using the hemmed edge of the sheet and did a box pleat to make the top of the pocket narrower than the base of the pocket so there is room for stuff!

Gorgeous apron, Opalyn! I'm wondering about the Tessuti pattern - what size do you think it will fit up to? I'm a little wary of "one size" patterns, as I'm more of a double size person!

I added three inches to the front-center and it fits me great - maybe even slightly oversize but I like it.
I think most people will need to add to the front center (especially if they are bigger than a women’s size 12).

    Enjoy the pattern.

Thank you! That was the adjustment I thought would be easiest to make, too. Helpful to know it worked well.

I also adjusted the angle of the shoulder seam, so I suggest pinning it together and trying it on before sewing those seams.  Before that adjustment, I thought I’d need darts but changing the angle fixes everything.

    I sewed a full-bib apron!
I used 100% cotton thread and fabric. The pattern called for fusible interfacing, but to meet PEP standards I substituted a second layer of cotton fabric for the facing, which seems to work alright. I used a combination of hand-sewing and machine-sewing.
This was the most complicated sewing project I have completed yet.

The gathered pockets were particularly baffling at first, but my mother helped explain what the pattern instructions meant. I also got some help with new techniques from Evelyn Wood on YouTube.
