I run a little convenience store and sometimes we get it wrong.  
This past week we had a bit of bread go out of date (not a problem: it goes in the freezer and we use it for toast; normally we can give it to a local charity for lunches)  we also had quite a bit of yoghurt go out of date.  From past experience I know it'll last a week or so past it's 'use by', but I think we'll get bored of it by then.  I sometimes use it in curries, and cakes, but does anyone have other good recipes that use a pint of plain yoghurt in interesting ways? Savory or sweet, ones that can be stored for later are also of great use.

It can be used in place of milk or cream in any recipe.

Search two-ingredient recipes and you will find lots of things to make using yogurt.

What about frozen yogurt? Add some fruit, fruit juice, etc. I was trying to think of what they used to sell when yogurt shops were popular.

I understand having to pull out-of-date items off your grocery shelves.

As for someone with lots of experience, I have never had yogurt go bad. I go through a period of loving it to not wanting it.  As long as it is not molded or separated I eat it. I know I have eaten six-month-old yogurt.

Yoghourt bread. You don't even need sourdough.

Mix yoghour and wheat flour in equal parts. Let it sit 15 minutes at room temperature.
Make small balls, covered with more wheat and give them small bread shapes.
Cook in a hot pan with a some oil. 10 minutes each side.
Let it cool down for 15 minutes more.

I also use a lot in making cakes- can replace oil in any quick bread type cake. This apple cake recipe is a favorite (I usually replace all but 2T of the oil with grated apple, with all that yogurt you don't need oil) and I often make it for guests.
Also, refreshing sauces (raita, tzatziki) and I often use it in place of sour cream (which I can't get).

I use it in bread just replace the water with yoghurt if it's the thin type or about half and half if it's greek style.

I use plain yogurt in marinating chicken drumsticks. Mix yogurt with spices and coat chicken legs. Sit for hours to overnight in the fridge then roast in the oven.

Yogurt cheese. Lots of things you can do with that. Strain it and collect the whey for making bread or in a ferment.

If I won't be able to use up my yogurt, I freeze it into "parfaits" to eat later.  Layer it with fresh fruit and granola and freeze in single sized portions. Little paper cups work great and you can freeze a stick or spoon in the middle to eat like a popsicle.  

If you layer just yogurt and fruit or berries (strawberries, blueberries, mango, pineapple, peach, blackberries, raspberries) and freeze it in cupcake trays (remove after frozen and store in a ziplock), you can let one or two of them partially thaw and then blend it for a smoothie. (My favorite way)

Hi,  Banana, yogurt,  frozen fruit, ice cubes. Blend until drinkable, use less fruit and ice cubes for an ice cream replacement.

Make a lassi. Mix the yoghurt with water and a bit of salt for a Salty Lassi. Omit the salt and add a dollop of pureed fruit for a mango, kiwi, strawberry etc. lassi (you may have to add sugar syrup to your liking). Add it to any curry. You can probably use it in making bread but you'll have to ask someone who knows more about that than me.
