I need help finding Comprehensive Sericulture vol 1 and 2
Here's vol 1 on amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Comprehensive-Sericulture-G-Ganga/dp/1578082862

I love my library.  I adore the interlibrary loan system.  But these last few years it's been "improved" so that I can borrow the same book for two weeks every 13 months, with no renewals.  I'm a slow reader and these are long books that I want to reference frequently.  I need the books here.

Amazon is sold out and last time they had it in stock it was $600+ per volume (not including shipping)
I'm hoping that I can get both volumes for less than $100

I am crap at googling.  I find the books, but I cannot find out if they are both volumes or just one of them or they don't ship to canada, or.....?

I need a better brain.
(looks around hopefully)

I'm looking at vol 1 (which I have for a few more days from the library)

ISBN (Set) 1-57808-292-7 (I assume this is both books)
ISBN (Vol. 1) 1-57808-286-2
I haven't found vol 2 isbn yet.
ISBN (Vol 2) 1-57808-287-0

I just gave this a not-so-quick google and did not find anything on the second volume. The first, I found a few shipping from various places around the world using ABE books (a good place for finding used books); Book Depository (good place for international book shipping) had nothing. There is another set of books with the same name but different ISBNs, publisher, and authors, just to make things more interesting. The interlibrary loan service shows it available at a few different libraries, so it does exist. I will think a bit more on where else to look tonight.

I found this one with the same title, but a different ISBN and author https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=30858565698&searchurl=ds%3D20%26kn%3Dcomprehensive%2Bsericulture%26sortby%3D17&cm_sp=snippet-_-srp1-_-title2

No details about which volume I can see.  But I'm not good with ABE books.

yeah, that one seems to be from a different publisher, and the ISBNs are different.
BUUUUT. since ABE gives you the seller's name, and there are no images of the covers, if it were me I would email the seller and ask them to send a pic of the cover and ISBN page. Can't hurt.

Every Abebooks listing has a link to contact the seller. They should be able to give you all the information you need.

According to what comes up when I do a search, you should be able to find the book through this website.  In order to search on this site, you need to create a log in with a user name.  I don't want to set up a user name there but you could do that so you could search for the book yourself there.

Amazon.com shows this https://www.amazon.com/Comprehensive-Sericulture-G-Ganga/dp/1578082927
Out of stock, but available to order, at $55 +$10 shipping. I sometimes resort to ordering from the US site, it generally works...

Not clear if that is 1 or 2 books, though...

Thriftbooks shows no stock of vol1 and vol2 is not listed. You can sign up for notification when avail. I have bought from them, shipping was expensive as they don't combine items, but everything arrived..
https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/comprehensive-sericulture-silkworm-rearing-and-silk-reeling_g-ganga/19540182/all-editions/

Book depository shows both volumes OOS, but has notification and claims free global shipping. No personal experience.

My local independent bookstore has a book finding service, even if they’re out of print.  I tell them the quality I want (very Good or better, eg), and they have almost always found what I was looking for at a reasonable price.  No charge for them to search and tell me what they’ve found.

The person who specializes in book finding is very good.  Even when there’s nothing online, he knows likely physical sources.

Do you have a link to the shop?  I've tried my local shops and they haven't found anything yet.  I'm on a list if they stumble on it.

The Bookloft : https://www.thebookloft.com/out-print-hard-find-books

As an aside, I found this article, which may be too technical for your needs, but which may have some points of interest https://www.researchgate.net/publication/303994666_A_comprehensive_view_of_the_web-resources_related_to_sericulture/fulltext/577e777408aeaa6988b0c9c1/A-comprehensive-view-of-the-web-resources-related-to-sericulture.pdf?origin=publication_detail

(Tried to upload it, but it got stuck).

You need a small, independent book store that responds to email requests for book orders!  I am suggesting that as a form of 'fishing rod' over 'fish' solution.  We are fortunate here in that we have such a store, allows for mask exemptions, accepts email requests and is a pleasure in general.  Something to consider in your visits to town?  Why feed the beast when you can keep an independent store in business in these tough times?

I've tried all my local used bookshops.  I'm on a list if they come across the book they will email me.  But don't get my hopes up.

Do you have a link to one you recomend?

If you use ebay, it's also worth setting up a search there and asking for email notifications. I've been able to purchase some uncommon books at far lower prices than Amazon this way. It does require patience - it's been a long wait at times!

I am in Canada, though that was my first thought -- to give you their email.
For the record, this is a new book store, and we have gotten some interesting results for classics (old books) published 'on demand'.
I guess that is another part of the book economy that you might want to be sure to access in your searches.
(There were some Henry James titles  that were out of print that we wanted to read this past winter, and so we were able to access them via this local bookseller that way -- printed on demand -- a kind of photocopy of an original -- nicely bound)

I have not used this specific service. It says it's free for downloads. You do have to sign up first. I suggest you create an email just for that in case it leads to spam

Good luck

Here is everything they have available for this book today.

https://www.bookfinder.com/search/?author=&title=&lang=en&isbn=978-1578082865&new_used=*&destination=us¤cy=USD&mode=basic&st=sr&ac=qr

You can search by ISBN or simply by author / title.  I find it's easier to use ISBN, but occasionally they'll have sellers who didn't input that data, so you can pick up something a bit cheaper because it's not being shown.

Some libraries will allow you to purchase their used books at a fraction of the new price.  Definitely worth checking into.

Maybe contacting the Publisher to see if they have over-stock that they will sell at a reasonable price would work?

This says Books a Million has it... Volume 1 for $76. They may not actually have it, but you can ask them.
The 13-digit number is the isbn number which should always be associated with Volume 1.
https://www.isbns.net/isbn/9781578082865/

Here is the ISBN number for Volume 2:  9781578082872
If any of the books you find have this isbn number, it should be Volume 2.

If I could figure out how to send you a picture, I would. Forget Google.
Type in abebooks.com in your browser, and in the search box that comes up put in "G Ganga" as author and "Comprehensive Sericulture" as title. There are several for sale. I didn't look at 1 versus 2 book, but price seems right at under $20.00.

I got one of those printed-on-demand out of print books.  It certainly didn't have the same maps as the original.
