Is "watching" every discussion I post to optional?

It seems like every time I post to a discussion, that thread gets added to my watch list and then I get an email every time someone else posts...which adds up to an unmanageable number of emails. Is there a way to not watch every discussion?

You can change the email settings in your profile
Or
Uncheck Notify when a reply is posted when you post.

I already have that option unchecked. In the email I get it says I'm getting the email because I'm watching the discussion and invites me to unwatch to stop getting emails.

Actually it doesn't say it's because I'm watching. But it does give me a link to unwatch to stop the emails.

According to my email settings I should only be getting the dailyish and an email when I get a PM.

You will need to unwatch each thread.

I don't know of a feature in the software to unwatch all threads.

it looks like if you go to
https://permies.com/forums/bookmarks/list/

And scroll allllllll the way to the bottom of that page. It has a button for select all. than you can click on unwatch all.

Yeah this is what I ended up doing. I was hoping there was a way to keep the discussions off my watch list to begin with since I almost never go into my profile. No big deal, though. I'll just have to clear the list periodically.

Thanks, everyone!

If you know you do not want to fallow future comments then it takes an extra step after you post the comment at the bottom there is a button "watch settings"  click that and uncheck the box that says "email me if there is an update for this thread"   You can also use this to receive emails if there is an update without making a comment.  Staff often use the second check box to make sure a question gets a reply when there are others with more experience.

Yes, I found that as well and have both those options unchecked. I still get emails, though.

So does that sound normal? I have my email settings set to receive the dailyish and when I get a PM. That's it. I have my watch settings set so I've opted out of both those options. Should I still be receiving all these emails?
