Hi all,

I'm relatively new to Permies and permaculture/gardening in general. For months I've enjoyed reading all the wonderful information and experiences contained in these forums. When the live-stream/recording of Helen Atthowe's Garden Master Course was made available, I got excited. I thought I'd share my excitement and appreciation by offering up TWO GIFT CODES for the course in a random draw.

For those unfamiliar, you can find out about the course here: https://permies.com/wiki/garden-master
Or pre-order the live-stream for yourself here: https://permies.com/wiki/170833/Pre-order-Certified-Garden-Master

TO ENTER THE DRAW
Reply to this thread by December 20 with a link to your favourite permies thread/post, or a favourite quote/joke/fun-fact/insight/whatever-you-feel-like-sharing. One entry per person.

On December 21, I will randomly select two names and purple mooseage the winners with their gift code.

Happy winter solstice everyone!

I agree they can be a little overwhelming! I think I learn something new on here almost every day. Besides the posts geared toward specific subjects, there's also SO much information often hidden away in unexpected posts.

Kirk - Thanks for the generous donations to help further practical knowledge for those who might be financially challenged these days. Good luck to all entrants!

I found this simple concept practical for not only bones and eggshells, but oyster shells for chickens also.

Wow that's really wonderful of you to offer the chance to win.

My favorite forum on permies is the gardening group. Posts like this enable my seed and plant addiction: https://permies.com/t/166548/favorite-planted-year

My favorite silly garden quote is: "A true gardener buys thousands of plants in their lifetime without having any clue where they are going to put any of them when they get home."

Hi Kirk. That is an amazing and generous offer and opportunity. I have been lurking around Permies for a number of years now, learning as much as I can as I march closer to owning a little portion of this bountiful Earth that I can magically convert into a sustainable oasis with everything I am learning here on Permies.

One of the things my son and I have been experimenting with is starting plants from seed and since apples have been his favorite since he was a little boy, we found this thread/forum very helpful and insightful.

https://permies.com/t/108096/Growing-Apple-Trees-Seed-Naturally

The beauty is we were able to plant two of the many saplings we started in my mom’s backyard this year to further our experiment. I will add photos and a post to the above thread after we’ve visited her for the holidays and can take pictures in person.

Blessings
Angela

My favorite site is https://permies.com/t/157962/neighbors-crazy  Everyone needs more humor in there lives.
Thanks Kirk for your generous raffle and welcome to permies.com
Jenny your garden quote really hits the nail on the head, at least for me.

It humorous stuff reminds me of one of my husbands favorite quotes, "Suffering is a part of life, misery is a choice"

Thank you for the opportunity Kirk.

My favorite thread is all about green woodworking. I hope to build a simple headboard kind of thing this year. I'm planning on simple round shapes.

I grew up using a set of kitchen chairs crafted by a great great uncle I never met. His had some fancy scroll work carved on a top panel, and multiple matching spindles that were turned on a lathe.

Thank you Kirk for this opportunity!

Really looking forward to the class! I’m just getting started here on permits.com, there are so many interesting posts! I‘d like to enter mentioning the podcast with Zach Weiss talking about Sepp Holzer‘s place https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/farm-small-farm-smart-daily/id676930917?i=1000405766717.

We hope to learn more about both worlds and then combine earthworks and Helen’s gardening methods at our place.

Greetings from the PNW! Dorit

Thanks everyone for sharing your favourite link or quote. I dug out my trusty straw hat for the occasion and will be drawing names from it tomorrow morning. Gift codes should be sent shortly after.
