Thanks for responding. I saw the poll and when I looked up the books with high counts the reviews said there was a lot of environmental philosophy in the books. I am only interested in hands on practical applications. Any suggestions for soil building, pests, and diseases?

I’ve added this thread to the California forum as I see from your first post that you’re in that part of the world.
I’m originally from the UK and now living in NY and I’m discovering lots of information in my older books isn’t going to work here.
The only book that I have read since finding the forum is "The Sustainable Vegetable Garden" a backyard guide to Healthy Soil and Higher Yields by John Jeavons and Carol Cox.
While this is not a book, I highly recommend to you and others the Soil Series by Dr. Bryant Redhawk> This will answer a lot of what you are looking for and more:
