I've had this day marked on the calendar for a long time.

Got my order in by 9am...what a wonderful selection!

I should have mentioned that Joseph Lofthouse is a major part of this...the reason it exists!
I couldn't find a thread that I remembered reading here.

I grew several things last year from these seeds with great germination and diversity.

Sounds great, I'm glad to see Joseph is involved with this, his landrace philosophy is part of my seed saving strategy now, at least for some veggies! (Not for tomatoes, though...)

The Landrace Seed Share at Going To Seed feels like the culmination of my life's work.

I feel grateful to permies.com for being the first group to really understand and adopt my suggestions and practices.

Me too! Last year, I grew some tomatoes, squash, and peppers from them. This year, I will try some of the grains.

Landrace Seed Share at Going To Seed.

I think this is a fantastic program, & I have high hopes of sending in a large amount of seed from my own grexes in the coming years.

In my experience, when starting a brand new grex, it can be hard to accumulate enough diverse seed from some crops the first few years.  There can sometimes be a steep learning curve if trying to grow something you have no real experience with, or allowing the crop to struggle to let nature find the strong ones.  This can result in little or no harvest, let alone enough mature seeds to save and share.  

For example, I missed fava beans entirely last year because I simply didn't know enough about them or when to plant them.  On the other hand, I planted hundreds of common & pole beans which I've had a lot of experience with, but they were annihilated by birds and rabbits.  In the end, I had one pod mature enough to maybe have viable seeds before the frost took the few survivors out.  My grand plans for jars of beautiful beans were put off for another year.  Ironically, a neighboring plot had rows & rows of bush beans planted mid-summer & they produced loads.  Maybe their bean sprouts just weren't as tasty as mine, lol.

Put my order in yesterday also.  
Hopefully this year whoever or whatever desilked all my corn ears last year will leave them alone this year...  

Going To Seed is a great organization and I'm looking forward to getting my treasure box of germplasm like the rest of you!

Really great to see enthusiastic posts on this whole goingtoseed.org approach and being able to see pics and words of the farmers along with all the content Joseph has been, and continues to put out.

This is awesome!  Just placed my order.  For people wanting to do this, seeds are selling out fast, so I wouldn't procrastinate if you want to order.

Great packaging and a generous amount of seeds!
I will try harder this year to label and situate my plantings where saving seed to return is more possible.

Everything germinated last year although some disappeared due to bugs and others the drought.

My treasures came too!

I was late, my order went in yesterday.  They already have many sold out.  Last year was terrible very little germination but, I did get 1 water melon from the 30 or so seeds. I'm hoping those seeds will do much better the second year.  6 or so plants 1 fruit.  It tasted great so i have high hopes. Tom

I know how you feel! I was able to donate seed this fall which was great. I've had great success in germination, and ⅔ die off before going to seed, great success! I added to my flour corn grex and it looked like a good contribution to the gene pool by the look of what did well

I've purchased excellent seed in the past from Giving ground seed who carries and grows out some of the Lofthouse landraces -- if it's sold out above, maybe Giving ground still has the one you're after?  Of course it's not free this way, but maybe better to support a seed farmer and save yourself a year's wait!

Julie, the proprietor of Giving Ground Seeds was an intern on my farm. I highly recommend her seeds and commend her ethics and philosophy towards life.

Those that send in home-grown seeds get access a month earlier than the general public.

The Canadian Landrace Seed Share went live this morning.

2025 Canadian Collection

This is the first year we have a collection of seeds just for Canada, shipping from Canada. Seeds in these packets are contributed by Canadian growers, supplemented with seeds from our US program. Crops are limited this year, but we hope to grow -- and to do that, we're counting on you to return seeds next year.

Grow these seeds without pampering them, and save seeds from the tastiest, earliest, and healthiest plants. Send some of those seeds back to the program, in order to help other growers access diverse, resilient seed, and earn early access to the next year's collection.

Packets contain a generous amount of seed for a small to medium sized garden, with moderate germination and high genetic diversity. Not all seeds will thrive in your environment -- that is natural selection at work!

Limit of 10 seed packets, one per type, per order

Please note that we can only ship these seeds to Canada. If you're not seeing any products, you're probably not in Canada!
