"Pinning" Messages and Replies (red cabin thread love)

I know there are a few user-friendliness features that PIE folks have to make things just a bit more accessible. So I am wondering if there's a feature (either existing, or possible) that allows the OP or Staff to "pin" a message to the top of a thread, so that it's the first message that someone who visits the thread will see.

When I looked at the Red Cabin thread, for example, the top post was from like 8 years ago, and (I think most importantly) it shows a photo of a very old version of the heater inside. An example of a relevant pin in this instance would be to show the most-recent version of the RMH in there (in the link I referenced above), so that anyone interested in visiting, renting, renovating, etc. would quickly see the current state of things.

Is pinning messages to the top of a thread something possible to implement? Is it already, and I just don't know how to use it?

That page is a wiki, editable by all staff, so we could just update the images. That's probably easier than rolling out a new feature.

Something similar has been discussed, but not the pinning thing.  It's like sticky threads, most people on the internet are now trained to ignore sticky, pinned posts, all cap Subject lines... so the feature would need to be something new.

Given how limited developer time is, we are a long way away from it as more important stuff keeps jumping the queue.

Almost 41k views since 2016.  Google likes something there.

Seems to be a wiki and lots of room for improvement. Fix the wiki migt be enough to fix the thread.

I don't keep close eye on Empire and Lab stuff, but memory suggests there was a better thread.  We could heap love on that and push this one down.  Or merge them.  Or... lots of options.

For Empire stuff, it depends on Paul's goals which path to choose.  In this case, it's good to get him in the conversation before choosing a path.

It looks like Samantha edited a lot of the words in the wiki quite recently, but I agree with R Ranson - some more recent cool pictures like the ones that are on pg 2 of the thread might deserve the honor of being in the wiki.
