It just worked ok for me.

Did you remember to choose 'entire message' rather than 'subject only'?

Also check that you're searching in all forums, not just one.

And the dates for the search.

And finally - check your spelling.

I searched for a few things. All but one worked just fine. My advice is to restart you web browser. I've had weird things happen on other forum in the past and when I restarted my browser it seemed to fix thing.

Then, if that doesn't work, we start your modem, Sometime your DNS (some of the number your computer gets to make the magic work)  gets all mixed up and some things work and weird things don't work.

Good Luck!

Cheers

Justyn

I tried turning my phone off and back on. Still isn't working for me.

Search word: Buckwheat
*Match all of the search terms
*Entire message
*All available
*Group by topics
*Descending
*Any date
*All topics posted to by this member (But, no name is entered.)

Hit search button. 0 results still.
I use this function a lot. Today something is wonky.

I just tried again and it said 1 result. It showed the post that I just made here minutes ago with the word Buckwheat in bold.

I am also having issues.  I tried the word "wine" in all available and got "0" earlier .. just now only one result in "fungi" when I search all available.  I tried other word searches earlier but don't remember the word.

I am using a desk top with mozilla.

I've had nothing but issues with the search function on forums. One time in particular, on a different site, I knew the title of a thread with proper capitalization and it refused to show no matter how broad or specific I made the extra search criteria. I've found the only useful way for me to search a forum is to pick a search engine online and type in site:permies.com (or whatever site you want to search) followed by what I am searching.

I've noticed here that if you go into a subforum and click the search function in the top bar that it defaults to searching that subforum. I'm not certain if that is by design or not.

If you know the specific user who posted something then you can click on their name to get to their profile and search their past posts or threads they have started.

In any event, here is an example of a quick search I did for - buckwheat.

Just checked with the word 'donkey' as I just began a thread with it in the title and also the text.  Got zero for every search combination I tried......made sure that it was set to 'all available' each time and went through every combination.  I didn't try the lower option for 'google'.

I seem to remember 'search' going goofy (sometimes) whenever there were updates in the mysterious inner workings of permies

EDIT  now when I checked, this thread shows up for 'donkey' in this post, and nothing else.

I used my mobile to search for the word soil. I got only 22 results. The earliest was from back in Apr this year. As this is a really common word on the forums, maybe something in the system is limiting the dates in the searches?

edit:

Just tried the same search on my PC. I get 23 results now. The same 22 as the mobile and now this post as well.

2nd edit: I use firefox on the PC and whatever the default is on my Galaxy Note for my mobile browser.

I just tried a few titles from yesterday and got '0' for results.

I copied the exact title, changed search to...
Match the exact phrase entered
Message Subject Only

EDIT and when I searched for this title 'question about a type of sunflower' ('subject only' search) that was just posted just a bit ago
it shows up.

I went on to search just for 'sunflower' though ('entire message' search) and the above topic shows again and no other posts.

Yeah, the search seems to be wonky. I'm going to reindex the search. It would take about an hour or two.
Let's see if that works.

15715 results for soil, earliest in Apr 2005. That's more like I was expecting.
