My husband hurt his knee so it is time to try the comfrey poultice.   I debated the use of the small electric mixer instead of a mortar/pestal but decided that if I needed a back hoe to build my first huglebed then I could use the mixer.  I also decided to create a dedicated rag system to keep large enough cloth lengths for the poultice to wrap around the knee.

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

Hey Jen this is very close.  Just missing this requirement:

Your journal page about your recipe and dosage information for comfrey leaf poultice

the rest looks good though!

Staff note (Rob Lineberger) :

Thanks for adding that.  This is now certified!

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that comfrey can be used to make a kind of glue which can be applied to bandages to make them dry rigid, like plaster of paris, and this is the reason it is traditionally known as a "bone setting" herb.

I cut my leg when I was up at the lab. When I got down to base camp,I harvested some comfrey from the hugelkultur beds and made a poultice. We had just finished learning how to make a salve so we already had all the supplies out that I needed.

Here is my submission for the Natural Medicine Aspect - Sand for Straw - Make a Comfrey Leaf Poultice BB.

I harvested Comfrey Leaf at Wheaton Labs during the PTJ 2021.  Some of it was dried in the solar dehydrator and I made an oil infusion and a poultice.  The poultice instructions say to finish it so once I did, I put it in a glass jar in the freezer until I needed it.
(WL = Wheaton Labs as harvest location)

To document the completion of the BB, I have provided the following:
Your comfrey leaves being harvested
Your poultice in mid-preparation
Your completed poultice
