Front Exit RMH

Has anyone ever seen this done successfully?
I have a limited amount of space and I need the drum's fumes to exit straight under the burn tunnel, theres no room for a rear exist. This pretty much makes the burn tunnel 12-16 inches off the ground.

I built one that was embedded in rocks, but drum's that arn't 55 gallon are impossible to find there all made of plastic so I had to forgo the insulated riser to fit a 6 inch pipe into an 8 inch pipe. So technically it doesn't work without a fan, which means I'm a forum embarassment even though with a small inline fan it works just fine.
I dismantled it and I'm trying to work with a 55g drum on top of a 2 ft tall box that houses the feed n burn tunnel insulated, but I can't come up with a way to get back to my exit that's sealed enough to work. Nor does the smoke in the drum really make an effort to find the 6 inch pipe at the bottom before finding some other outlet.

I'm starting to think I should throw the dam barrel and insulated heat riser down a hill and go back to the original self enclosed design.

If you have 8 inch OD heat riser.  You could try to do it like me. Use a 35kg gaz botle. If they exist where you live. they're about 12iD 5mm steel.

I tried to find one of those with no luck, the closest I could get is an oxygen tank and I would have to buy it brand new.
There arn't allot of surplus resources I know of in my bio region, the biggest area of scrap matterials i've been able to find is in the back yard of the property Im renting.
You've got quite the manufacturing shop, I still do most of my woodwork on the ground, across my foot, knee, and front steps to the house. I'm going to source up a half barrel from the yard and try cutting two circles in it freehand, one for the exist and one above for the entrance. If something doesn't connect and seal by 3 oclock the barrel is going into storage for the days of more space or a rmh water heater, and I'll stick with my less efficient but more aesthetically pleasing first design. If it never caught it's containment unit on fire I wouldn't be trying to jostle a 55g drum 6 inches from a glass wall.

Well, thanks for the comment on the workshop. I'm affraid i'm of the rat race, being pro carpenter and roofer. I'm lucky to have my own tools.

We tried to create a barrel build with an exit under the burn tunnel. It did not draw well at all; we tried 2 different places for the exhaust. We took the whole build down.

Save your time and work out another approach.

Your location says lower mainland in BC. Try the Surrey end of the Pattullo bridge up by the gas station on the north side of the KG hwy. There is a metal recycling place (was 6 years ago ) I have seen lots of hot water tanks in a bin outside the gates. The tank inside will be 18in in diameter and though it will not a flat top they work just fine. That is what I used. Rather than putting the feed right over the exhaust though I would put them side by side. You will have to route the exhaust around the feed anyway so you must have the room.

The electric style is much easier to use than the gas style
