Thats a pretty snazzy patch!
I bet the armpit of a sweater is difficult to darn. I think a flat surface would be easiest then an exterior 90 like the heel of a sock but an armpit is an interior 90. Maybe they are all the same but it seems that an armpit or crotch would be the most difficult mends.

Agreed! It would have also been easier if I didn't match the colors so I could see what I was doing. I might have to try with a sock. I just don't have a proper darning needle, but hey, I can't be picky during the pandemic

I need a darning needle as well. Mine was too short so I had to do the stitch half way then pull through and start again

Planted 20 g of mixes perennial butterfly humming bird and bee beneficial wild flower seeds today.
My 4 year old stopped the recording of sowing haha so no badge bit today but I did get some good seed in the ground!

I'm going to try to make two loaves of bread today!  Usually we use the bread machine to mix and rise the dough and then we put it in bread pans in the sun oven.  So we'll see how it goes without the bread machine bit...

Mike thats awesome! I have made bread quite a few times but I've never used a a bread machine. It seems more intimidating than  just making it by hand...honestly I don't even know what it does. I thought it was an oven box haha
My wife was given a bread maker recently so I may have to see what all the fuss is about.

I looked up the sun oven...they look nice but for the price I guess I should just build one save money and get a BB.

Nice funnel!  

My bread turned out decent.  Cooked through but the crust is pretty light.  First slice passed the test, just need to wait a week until I tear into the second loaf before I can submit for the BB.

It has to go from hard/dry grain to cooked grain on the stove.  I'm not sure how fried rice is made otherwise I'd give you an easy yes or no...

Thanks Mike that was answer enough.

Fried rice goes in the pan dry its fried in a fat or oil  till golden then you add seasoning and stock and let it simmer covered for about 10-15 min until all the stock is absorbed and the rice is fluffy.

My son and I dug a pond, and then sealed it!

It's not at the base of a hugel, so no BB, but it was still an awesome muddy blast!

I unsealed a pond a couple days ago! No pics but we took a EPDM liner out of a pond.  Now we have a caked mud hole.  Time to get a pig...

Good job Ash!  I don't think I'll get the darning one, I don't wear thick socks or sweaters.  But I am going to do the sealed pond test!

I've been spending my spare time building a skiddable structure so that I can finish the Natural Building badge.  There's a BB for leveling a skiddable structure.  But I don't have one.  So I'm building one  First time doing any timber framing (if you can call it that).

Sometimes I wish I had clay.  We took the liner out of a small pond and it was holding water!  For half a day  Now it's the start of a sunken hugelbed.  But I am going to try the sealed pond test just to see if it's possible in this sand.

Yeah, I didn't really have any in mind.  The ones I'm still trying to get are probably different from the ones a newer PEPPER would be into.  Something akin to carving a spoon would be good.  Maybe pollinator habitat?  Unless that was done already...  Something spring/early summer related would be good

- PEP Newbie Appeal/PEP Enthusiast Appeal
- Badge Continuity/Rotating New Badge

Obviously there's room for lots of experimentation. Whittling away at PEP is effectively an evergreen topic.

Looks better than what I'd do :)  I fixed a toilet seat today and I'm cleaning a shower head at the moment.  I'm pretty close to getting the pluming badge!
