Over the past few weeks, permies has received a bunch of cool new features, tweaks, and updates. Here are some of the most prominent features. Please try these features and let us know what you think. Find an issue? Have a great suggestion? Please post to this thread and we will try to address them asap!

1) New interface for editing your profile

Wasn't fiddling around your permies account's setting a bit of a hassle? Now we have a brand new modern-ish interface for that!

Check it out:
https://permies.com/forums/user/edit

Things are pretty straightforward on the new interface. Wanna change your password? Just click on the password field and enter your new password. The system will take you through a smooth verification process and you are done! It will also guide you through the process if you want to change your email.

While you are at it, why not set a profile/cover picture for your profile?

Oh and don't forget to fiddle around your pie settings and explore the coolest features!

The best part is that you can do all of this from your mobile device too! You no longer have to switch to the desktop view and zoom in and out to just to fiddle with a setting or two!

2) Big improvement to the mobile view

If you are reading this from a cell phone, are you on the mobile view or desktop view? Can you really tell anymore?

As a big step in our long term mission of unifying the mobile view with desktop view, we have made the mobile view look a lot.... A LOT.... closer to the desktop view. On the new mobile view, you have the same menu bar the desktop has. You also have the wooden background. Same look and feel when you view a thread.

On top of that hundreds of little things have been optimized for best experience on mobile.

We know that the mobile view was a little wonky in the past. If you have selected the "never use the mobile view" option, please unselect it for once and see if you can appreciate the new thing :)

The very first link.. is I think maybe a personal one? It just redirects to "you do not have sufficient permissions for that"
I'm sure the new profile thing looks good on a mobile but on here it takes 3 full pages worth of scrolling as the tabs are so huge.

Ah! His link was https://permies.com/forums/user/edit/169987. Notice the 169987--that's his user number. If you crop that off, it looks like https://permies.com/forums/user/edit/ and should work!

Ooooh! So pretty!

But um... the pie feature of the green line disappeared. I currently do still have pie.

Is it just me, or has the font size got really tiny? (I'm not sure if I've pressed something on my tablet....)

I love it. The new mobile view. But the green line doesn’t work most of the time. And yes, the proper boxes are checked for that in the pie settings.

No big deal. I remember some time ago it was the same way, and it did seem to fix itself after a while.

THANK YOU, Devaka for your hard work!!

Is there some pattern as to when it does not show up?

None that I can see, unfortunately.

What, if anything, should I look for?

OooooOooooOoooh, I love it, Devaka!!! It is far nicer than the old mobile view. You've done some seriously good work! Bravo!!!

I wonder if the "New Topic" button could be at the top of the mobile view when on a forum? It seems to be a big pain to scroll all the way to the bottom to click the New Topic button, and maybe having the New Topic button at the top would help more people make new threads.

I also think it'd be wonderful to have the Digital Market prices visible when scrolling through the forum, so people easily know how much each thing costs (thumbnails would be cool, too, but probably take up too much space!). Having a Category view for the Digital Market would also be super cool, so people can peruse the whole place easily. But I'm sure that'd take a ton of time to develop!

Maybe instead of the white permies farmer logo at the top, we use the one with the transparent background that's used on the desktop view?

I'll try - this is my new Raspad, and I don't know (yet) how to screenshot that. I'll check on the desktop later and see if it does the same.

The only thing really preventing me from using mobile view is the lack of a recent topics-like page. It looks like mobile view still only offers the list of all forums. It does look better, but it's still not usable for me.

Upon further investigation, I think it is just me - something strange in the zoom function. I have managed to adjust the scale now to a more reasonably font size.

Under the new mobile view, I can't "like" a post or give apples with javascript switched off anymore.
