I like to plants seeds of hope, seeds of ideas, seeds of solutions, seeds of comfort, seeds of friendship.

Also seeds of cabbages and radishes and beans and basil and pumpkins and tomatoes and things.

Edit to add that a friend of mine has just informed me she's found two lovage plants for me, so we're going to pick them up after lunch, and very soon I'll be planting lovage too! I love the idea of a plant that lives for 15 years, grows ten foot tall and gives me leafy flavouring to put in my soups and stews and broths.

I haven't seen this video since I was a teen (!!) but it still had to be said, for people of a certain age....

And yet-- is there anything more important to plant?

My partner voiced that she thought our side yard would look lovely if there was a wall of sunflowers there.

I intend on making that happen so this afternoon is sunflower seed sowing time.

Not sure this counts but I have a young lemon tree that was absolutely desperate to be transplanted into a bigger pot. Hopefully it will be happy in its new digs!

Planting out my fig cuttings that rooted over winter. Also trying to plant the idea that I don't need any more varieties, which is going about as well as it usually does.

Today I'm putting out my fall starts-- finally it rained!!!
I also pruned the trees, been waiting for the rain to do it. Hopefully this makes the moringa bush out and encourages the fruit to produce.

Amen, Sister! It's how I start the day every morning... sitting a few minutes in quietude and putting this beautiful planet along with all its inhabitants, right down to the microscopic, in a bubble of love.

Well I went to collect the two lovage plants that my friend picked up from the market for me only to discover that they were actually pots of several young plants, not one larger plant. I gave them a day or so to settle in and I've just transplanted NINE young lovage plants into a long, trough-shaped pot. And next I'll put the contents of the other pot into tree-growing plug trays. Maybe I'll risk one or two straight out into the GAMCOD bed too, seeing as it looks like I have a few spares.

I'm hoping they'll cope with the shock of transplanting well enough that I'll have spares to give away to anyone who might visit.

That's one thing I love about plants. If you find one that you love and that seems to love you back, you end up having plenty to share with the people you love too.

Gotta share that love around!

I've been planting bere barley seeds. These are part of a trial for the James Hutton Institute, but it means I have four more lines of Bere barley for my landrace project. They also want a soil sample - so I will get my growing area soil analysed for free. Potentially making some useful connections in grain growing...
My husband also helped me hang the doors on my new polytunnel today, so another step towards a sheltered growing space for all sorts of plant seeds!

I do like the idea of setting in motion other things that will come to fruition if suitably tended....
