I only have Water "Chickens."



Totally don't need any of those Colorful Rainbow Deathchickens! They're what convinced me that birds are related to dinosaurs

Whoa. I looked up the Colorful Rainbow Death Chicken, and I have to agree with you about dinosaur genetics. I'd hate to take on one of those in a bar fight! Good lord....

My Chicken Chickens prove dinosaur genetics to me, they are odd little beasties. When you see them stalk and hunt, you suddenly realize if they were seven feet tall, they'd be seriously dangerous.

Baby ducks always remind me of little raptors.

My Signature for the last few years was "just spinning wheels," but after our PDC at Pauls Place this summer I feel like we are finally catching traction. Hope to be threading some more. got a roof on our house, swales dug, and finally starting to work on our plan in more details.

I was at the Florida State Fair on Saturday, by myself, because none of my "friends" wanted to be tortured by my lack of desire to see anything else but the chickens. I went early and got to have what my friends would have described as mind-numbing conversations (they're deep meaningful conversations! My friends are heathens) with fellow chicken-keepers. I met up with the breeder of the Champion of the Fair Buff Orpingtons, and I'm going to drive 1 1/2 hours at the beginning of March to get 3 from her. I don't have room for any more. I'm going to have to double the size of my coop. I really don't need any more chickens. But these I.Must.Have.

Love the chart. I know nearly all those chicken varieties, which is why my preferred breed is the chicken chicken.

I only have chicken-chickens, but I'd really like water-chickens! I like the 'all-terrain noise chickens'

I am frequently tempted to get some "all-terrain noise chickens," but then I remember just how noisy they are! My parent's neighbor has "all-terrain noise chickens," and it sure is a ruckus over there!

In the 2.5 years since I've posted this, we've graduated to having Chicken Chickens and All-Terrain Noise Chickens (Their names might be Patty, Clyde and Flower, but I call them "Hiss, Honk, and Twerp." Patty hisses, Clyde honks, and Flower twerps. All the time.)

My friend had a chicken named Flower!

I have none of these but I have been charged at by an Elegant Attack Chicken.  I am here to tell you that I've never been more scared of an animal in my life. Some other animal might posture and try to bluff you, but the Elegant Attack Chicken wasn't bluffing and I was about to get mauled.   My bluffing must have been enough to stall it and give me time to move away from its nest.

I can see why the Vikings carved geese into their shields and boat prows as a symbol for a warrior's bravery.

Please give me your thoughts on my Affordable, double-paned earthbag window concept

Quite unpredictable indeed.


Sometimes I daydream about getting Colorful Rainbow DeathChickens to dissuade random people wandering onto our land. Or maybe just a sign warning that it's a sanctuary for disturbed Colorful Rainbow DeathChickens.

I've got Very Friendly Wood Chicks who are too young to live full time in the field who like drag racing on my kitchen floor. I'd like to believe they're about old enough for the field, but they cry when the want attention and I'm too soft-hearted to leave them out there all night. There are three more "almost chicks" in the incubator, so by the middle of this coming week, they may have company! (or I may have double the work-load)
You'd believe the "Friendly" part if you'd seen the one I offered to a friend put its little head on her breast and snuggle right in as if trying to convince her she should take him home.

Yeah, Chicken Chickens are great. They are definitely mini dinosaurs. I look forward to getting some Water Chickens.  When I'm very rural maybe some Relentless Alarm Chickens.  Don't they look like big commas?

I have had the life scared out of me by a Fancy Flouncy Drag Chicken which appeared next to me on a high wall on a lonely dog walk at dusk. They are very pretty but they always sound like the ghost of a large cat that's far away.

I'm also a fan of the Not-Very-Good-at-Hiding Chicken.

It's been four years, and now I have "all-terrain noise chickens" and "chicken chickens." Makes me wonder if I'll have more of varieties of "chickens" in four years!

It will be exciting to hear what other new chickens Nicole has in four years time.

We have lots of these dramatic Stealth Chickens around here.  They're also known locally as the Darth Vader Chicken.
