Good day, Permies. I cleaned my fridge! I began by removing old stuff that no longer needed to be in there. I am between
compost systems, so, alas, I was not able to do more with my solids than discard them. Darn my suburban restrictions! However, I was able to
water my blackberries with some old whey that was headed out the door. The soil has a high pH here and my blackberries usually taste like crap, maybe some acidifying whey will make them more palatable. The cleaning method and supplies I used is elbow grease with 7th generation (grey water safe) dish
soap and water, and a dry cloth once over afterward.
I washed all the shelves in the bath tub, so my wash water was, regrettably, not able to be used to water anything. It went down the tub drain. I chose to wash in the tub because there is not
enough room in my sink and outside has rocks and hard things that could damage the glass
should accident occur. Working from top to bottom, I moved the foods down to the bottom shelf and washed and dried the upper two. Then food to the top and wash the bottom. The interior sides were wiped down as well when they were exposed.
Everything in the door was removed and put in the main compartment of the fridge while it was cleaned, and put back together.
Finally, the fridge is restocked with fresh groceries and the stock rotated.
