Hi Josiah. I've got a Date palm growing in a pot (from seed) that's now as large (small) as the palm you show in your video. Do you think it's possible to plant it outdoors, in a climate like yours (or a little less cold in winter)?

I don't know if your date palm would survive. I don't know if my fan palms will survive. I know someone who got a date palm to fruit in a really big pot on their porch in a climate that it would not survive the winter. I think that with enough microclimate and some little tricks you might be able to have a date palm, but you won't know until you try.

Then I'll keep this one indoors (put it outdoors during summer maybe), and put some other date pits in the garden. If they want to grow there, they'll grow there!

Turns out I put this hugel in the wrong place, luckily it only took 0.1 excavator hours to move it over

Three of the five Hugels in front of the abbey are finished today and the excavator has only logged 3.5 hrs. Fascinating!

Today I reduced the slope of Allerton Abbey’s front access path, moving the earth to build the first half of the horseshoe hugelkultur.



It’s also pizza night to celebrate the birthdays of all the new fruit trees that have germinated this spring.
